You’re forgetting that Kroenke is a cheap ownerSaid it in the Business forum...but how did McFarland not have an inkling that this was coming. Even with an internal budget, there's no way they couldn't afford Rantanen's extension.
But he has to reach the floor, which would still make Rantanen affordable. You’re forgetting that Kroenke is a cheap owner
Also means they can afford to resign Tavares at 10M+ a yearRantanen and Marner are about to cash in
Love this. Force any cheap ass owners to pay up.So the cap floor will be:
81.5 for 25-26
88.4 for 26-27
96.475 for 27-28
Good. In reality the cap should be higher than half the teams are willing to spend. The NHL has a massive parity problem, as over a quarter of the league hasn't been to the playoffs in 5 years, which is frankly horrible, and by far the worst of the big 4 leagues. Rebuilding is way too difficult in this league.Friedman mentioned on his pod the cap will go up, but now will probably not see all teams spend to it, this year there is only a handful of teams not right up against the cap, i think that will grow to well more than half the league.
The potential benefit of this will be more trades, as more teams should have space to facilitate trades.
