Same thing as when they mandated visors, it'll be grandfathered in, any players who played their 1st game in the 2019-20 season and later has to wear their helmet. Am I old man yelling at cloud for not liking this? Always fun when you get to a game early and watch.

I don’t mind the rule change, but grandfathering this is absurd. Just tell them to wear helmets, it’s not that hard.

But then how long before the players have to wear something like this???

Don't know why there'd be any resistance to this. While slipping and hitting your head in warm-up is remote, you could collide with a teammate. But moreso, the fact there are multiple flying pucks in all different directions and some ricocheting off the crossbar and out, I'd want to protect myself from getting hit with an errant puck.

Probably for the best. Teams make significant investments into these guys and not having them available because they took a puck to the face rounding the net in warm-ups is just stupid. I once took an accidental blow to the head in warm-ups and have worn my helmet ever since.

Also, why do they have to grand-father this in? Just make everyone comply starting next season. Weird.

Reactions: I am toxic
I watched the warm-ups when Avs and CBJ were playing in Finland. There was just one player without helmet, J.T. Compher.

They just had some pretty hefty league battles around head injuries. This seems pretty logical tbh. As someone above mentioned, I wouldn’t have made anyone exempt from this though

We HaVe To PrOtEcT tHe PlAyErS!!!! Reeee!!!

Let’s just put a full cage on their face too! Wouldn’t want a puck hitting the exposed part!!!

No fun league strikes again

I'm not a fan of making players exempt to rules.

If it's a rule, it's a rule for everyone, period.

in stunning news today the nhl has expanded the trapezoid rule to include all players on the ice. any player who plays the puck behind the goal line in the corners shall receive a 2 minute penalty
