does anyone know when its coming out. cant wait to see who the islanders are playing for the home opener. i am sure they will start on the road and then open up against pitt

I've read some rumors that our first game will be January 19th at home against the other New York team.
The schedules won't be released until the CBA is fully ratified and the lockout officially ends.

I think it's going to be Pens-Flyers at Philly, Isles-Rags at the Coliseum, Devils-Jets in the Peg.

Yup. I think the Pens-Flyers is supposed to be the big game to kick off the season on

Yep, saw one of the Philly writers say it could be a day game.

On the flipside to the Isles-Rags I also saw on their board that the 6 original teams could play each other. So who knows at this point.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. From a money standpoint, it would be best for the Islanders to wait for the Rags during the middle of the season. Chances are that the home opener will be a sell out anyway so it doesn't really matter who they play. The Rags will be a sell out on any given night.

I kinda hope we don't open at home vs the Rags.

it bugs the hell out of me how no matter who we play, there are tons of opposing fans in the building, but it always ticks me off when it's the Rangers fans. ugh. I really don't want to see that for opening night.

Let's open up against a team with fans as apathetic as we seem to be. Come on Hurricanes.

Another point is, lock out damage aside, the home opener is one of the rare times the Islanders sell out (or come close) with the other times being against the Rangers. You know the Isles wouldn't want to waste a game which would be a big draw against the one team that already draws the biggest crowds in.

You know you want it to be the Hurricanes so Tavares starts the year off with a 3 point game.

;)

Winnipeg press is reporting the Jets will open at home against the Senators on January 19th.. If this report is accurate I'm sure many more teams will start leaking opener information as time goes by.

One of the Devils writers has been saying they were going to start the season at Winnipeg. Then there's this:

I am hearing NHL has 2 sets of 48-gm skeds for a lot of teams

So I guess we really just have to wait and see.

I know that when the news first broke that the lockout was over, I went over to the isles website & they had a schedule posted on their main page. It's since been taken down. But it was the 50 game schedule that had the season opening on the 15th vs the Rags @ home.

I'll be annoyed if our first game is against a metro NY team. All it will do is drive up ticket prices on the secondary market drastically, as I get my tickets usually from StubHub. I don't want to share tailgating or the arena with Rangers or Devils fans on opening night.

As someone who works somewhat in the transportation industry, this must be absolute hell for charter providers like Miami Air (who flies a bunch of NHL teams including the Isles). They basically have build entire flight schedules in a week.

I think that was just from the games that hadn't been cancelled. It was mere coincidence that the Rangers were scheduled then too. Not to say we won't end up playing them in the opener.

Take it for what its worth but the morning after the new agreement was announced Boomer said mater of factly that the season would start on the 19th (which looks like he was correct) and that it would be Isles Rags at coliseum.

I took his word for it and booked a room at the Marriott for the 19th as the wife and I missed our annual bday/ anniversary Saturday night Islander overnighter this year!

Once again Boomer just said on WFAN that it will be the 19th vs Rags at NVMC.

opener vs the Rangers?

ugh..not a good way to start off the 1/2 year.

although for us to still be in the playoff hunt this late in the year is pretty promising...

I have learned that the only way to remain a fan of this organization is to have zero expectations and just enjoy hockey (including other teams stars) cold beer, a good meal and a fun night out.

So a Saturday opener against the Rags sounds like a blast.

Take this for whatever it's worth, but my brother just spoke with his ticket rep and the rep seems to think the opener is going to be against the Devils. It's the first I'm hearing of this, but who knows....

I think I would like this better than the Rangers, to be honest. It gives the Isles more opportunities to sell out, as the Rags games are all but guaranteed sell outs anyway.

Chances we see a schedule today?
Well the BOG is voting to ratify today at 4PM. The players are voting tomorrow and Friday. I'm not sure if they are going to have to wait for player ratification to release schedules or if they will do it after the BOG meeting today.
