They should go Juolevi, but will go Tkachuk

I am split.
I think they have a decent base of good young dmen. They should be in the market for a ready number 1 to compliment (using a forward) - not throw another young one into the fish bowl. IMO. However, Juolevi is a very good add to any team.

In regards to position and need, I think Tkachuk is the right pick. They still lack his style of play, and think he fits in nicely.

Lol @ Juolevi getting a sudden burst of votes due to the WJC. I love him as much as anyone but he's not the BPA at #5. He might not even be the best d-man available after Chychrun. Most guys have Sergachyov ahead of him now. Anyway, voted Tkachuk.

although getting Tkachuk would be a hell of a scoop for the Oilers, i feel the Oilers would look at either trading down or trading the pick outright for a more established young d-man.

In that situation, I wish the Leafs would have a good enough package.
If we won the Lotto - acquiring Tkachuk would be awesome. Doubt we have the right mix of players to get it done though. (which wont create holes in our core)

That is an ideal forward group, now the D - that is another story.

How about Phaneuf + 15th(pits) + 31st for 5th + dump + later pick :sarcasm:

^i could handle that! Dion + #15 + #31 for #5, and you'd have to take d-man Mark Fayne though as a salary dump from us. 2 years left @$3.5 mil/per. but your mistaken penciling in Steve Stamkos because he's going to be an Oiler! :crossfing
