Stevie Y beat us out on the 6'6 goalie....

so we took the 6'8 goalie

iu

Id rather just bring in an actual walrus to play goalie than this scrub

So consolidated hes at 17 but others have him ranked much worse

Not all publications are created equal either.

It's like because they have become "rich" in assets, they've gotten a bit profligate in their spending. The Buch deal was 70 cents on the dollar. The Othmann pick was maybe 95. Grubbe 85. Thereafter, the values seem back on track, more or less.

That's more or less where I am at.

I would've preferred to take Othmann at 22 rather than 16.

I would've preferred to take Grubbe at 80 or in the 100s, rather than 65.

I like Blais, but feel that second needed to be a first --- even if its 2023.

None of these are franchise killers. But the differences do add up if they're done in close enough proximity to each other. Collectively not awful, but disappointing. Especially after the last few years.

The goalie looks slow to me. I don't see any explosiveness. Maybe that's the fact the goalie is huge.

I like the Brody Lamb pick. I like the Othmann pick. And the Korczak pick.

the others? i dunno.

Has there ever been a good goalie at 6'8" or larger?

Closest is Ben Bishop at 6'7", ton at 6'4-6'6" (Rinne, Markstrom, Lehner, Smith, Hellebuyck)

It's such a small percentage of the population that it's tough to make generalizations about whether it's an inhibiting factor to a netminder's success.

Yea like these moves are annoying and we can complain about it. But Chicago just gutted their rebuild for a bottom pair dman and then handed him a 9.5M AAV contract for 8 years. You would be confused which team some of these comments were talking about.

No, when youre that big youre movement from post to post sucks. He will sit on his knees the entire game and let goals in over his shoulders bc thats all that these giant goalies can do. No goalie over 6-6 makes the NHL. Ben Bishop is ehh and hurt all the time. This was a wasted pick.

Speaking of our 6'8" goalie pick last year, Hugo Ollas, he's actually headed to Merrimack College to play college hockey this year.

Pretty cool. Another guy to see how he marinates.

I shudder at the thought of overpaying Danualt. Would rather shop in the Wenneberg, Granlund, Bonino, Haula, Nosek aisle for cheaper and shorter term. In some cases, they could compete with Fil for 2C. Trade Strome for McNabb/Reaves or Soucy/MacDermid and call it a day.
