I mean, I’m unhappy about the value, but I at least can understand what they’re trying to do there. They’re building a bottom-6 of really aggressive, strong forecheckers that fill defined roles and will fit Gallant’s system well. It opens up two full-time spots in the top-6 for Kakko and Kravtsov (maybe even Laf if they shift him to RW), and they’re gonna trust these kids to take the next steps in their development. If they can’t cut it yet, the guys they got are top-end support players and can cover any short-term deficiencies for them.

I don’t understand why everything has to be reactionary nonsense lacking nuance when we’ve basically been told Buch is being traded since March. And I’m saying this as a guy that wanted Buch re-signed and one of his biggest fans on the boards. I’m still upset, but again, I at least can see what they want to do…
