I think this is what the current front offices plan is. They feel they have offense in spades, especially if they feel confident Laff, Kakko and Kravtsov hit their potential. You have those three plus Panarin, Zib, Chytil and Kreider.
What they don't have is strong bottom 6 players who are defensively responsible while chipping in some production. Now one can argue Buch could be that, but with how their current cap is structured, they couldn't invest another $6MM in a winger. They need to redistribute that cap into the center and bottom 6 positions (bottom 6 players such as Goodrow and Blais).
This makes me feel like Eichel is not the target. It's either going to be a UFA Signing like Danault or a trade that no one sees coming. I then see them adding someone like Bellamere on the cheap.
Stromes cap hit plus another ~$1.5MM will go to that center. He'll be dealt for a vet LD.
Laff - Zib - Kakko
Panarin - Chytil - Kravstov
Kreider - Danault - Goodrow
Blais - Rooney - Bellamere
