Nyr rarely trade down..i don't get it. It's like they refuse...Been like that for years. They rather reach than trade down. So dumb. Trade down and get more assets.

It's way better to overpay 500K to sign some depth guys like Goodrow than to have to shell out the farm for guys like Nash.

We should be taking swings here, not going for AHL/4th line tweeners.
Rick Nash? 1st overall pick, rocket richard winning, 2 40 goal pace seasons for the ranger Rick Nash? The farm being Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon?

He has a head scout lol. Its the guy I just mentioned.

Why does he need an AGM now? Would you rather he rush to fill that position and hire the wrong guy?

Morehouse is the Director of North American Scouting. We don't have one for European and we don't have a Director of Player Personnel.

And ummmm. I'd rather he have hired someone already so we're not going into a draft unprepared. If you're right and it's because Drury doesn't want to hire the wrong guy, my question then becomes what the hell is taking so long?

Like I said, Drury is being exposed as a rookie GM who has never done this before, has no scouting staff in place (Gordie was demoted) and whose only sounding board is Glen Sather. It's a terrible look for the organization.
Gordie hasnt really known what hes been doing for years now

We didn't have a director of player personnel even before gorton got fired lol.

We still have European scouts. Just because they aren't in the room doesn't mean they aren't there via Zoom. It's not easy to fly around the world these days.

Did you see our draft room? We had Drury and 3 other guys, including one guy who was an agent (not even a scout).
Who was the guy who looks like Riff Raff?

Both draft picks are years away.

They won’t help with the Wilson incident anytime soon.

The way Drurys drafting Reaves will be on the team before the end of the draft.

He hasn't been in this position that long. That's an August project.

Careful. I said the same thing last year and was tarred and feathered.

Yes, that Rick Nash. I'm not bashing him, I supported the trade then and think Nash was fantastic for us. I think my point was not taken clearly.

It would be much better for us to try and find top tier players in the draft so that we don't have to trade away 1st round picks and prospects/roster players for that top tier talent. How many times did we do that? Nash, MSL, Yandle, etc.

Again, it's much easier to overpay by 500K for a Goodrow, a caliber of players whom are available every single FA and trade deadline, rather than desperately praying top tier talents come availabe and either handing them a blank check or paying out the ass for.

My order of preference would be
1- Savage
2- Stjernborg
3- Harrison
4- Whynot
5- Gilmartin

We have Laf, Kakko, and Kravtsov. These are three all with top line potential and are extremely young and could easily be Rangers for the next decade assuming we can afford them. Mika is ours for now and he’s a 1C. Chytil is a 3C but may be good enough to become a 2C. Our top 6 is mostly set already long for the long term. It’s our bottom 6 that really needs work. I get that these drafts are more for 3 or 4 years out, but I don’t think a single mediocre draft kills us. It’s extremely frustrating, but it doesn’t kill our foundation and we still have a good system.

I dont think you just find Rick Nashs very often outside the top 10
