Maybe this helps.
Lafreniere at 1. Kakko at 2. Kind of no brainer there and those guys have under performed offensively for sure. Those were picks that they were supposed to make.
Kravtsov still is a question mark and he is going to be thrown in the deep end this year. Possibly same with Jones.
Pajuniemi we don’t know if he is NHL caliber yet.
This is a pretty dumb take.
I’m hardly a Debbie downer around here.Debbie Downer
I think that's really oversimplified. It has more to do with needing add balance to the roster and farm system. They have their high-end players and those guys are very young. But they lacked the players who can fill out the roster and do the things every team needs guys to do: hit, forecheck, kill penalties, win battles along the board, etc. But most of all, it's building teams that can win games in more ways.I would argue that with the picks they have made so far, it is clear that the Goodrow contract and Buch trade were not enough to get Tom Wilson out of their system
Let's hope that's true after his ACL injury.Redline report said- Unfortunately suffered a season ending knee injury just after the WHL season ended. Being given the Captaincy of a Brent Sutter team at 17- speaks volumes of his leadership and character. Powers his way around the ice with great knee bend and digs hard into his edges. Moves impressive for his size regularly beats defenders wide.
That dude is trying way too hard. He’s over the top with everything. He laughs like an 8 year old little boy and sounds too fake. Its amusing watching the panelists try to respond to him. These people dont belong at the same table
Anything else was never an option. How many legitimately skilled players are there with "toughness"
Buch had an edge, but he wasnt tough enough for a lot of the people complaining for more. A Marchand or Wilson are some of the rarest players out there. Getting those kind of players was never an option and everyone should have known that when they were begging for more tough
Thank you, well put. We aren’t getting the transactional value that we could/should.No not really.
I feel like we're reaching on some these. We have a very clear vision in mind, but our value is off.
With Buch, it's not that Blais isn't a player worth having. It's that the return isn't quite what it needs to be.
With Othmanm, it isn't that he isn't a good prospect. It's whether you take him at 16 or trade down.
With Grubbe, it isn't that he doesn't have a niche. It's whether you take him at 65 or closer to 80 or later in the third.
It's kind of like going to the shopping at the super market when you're hungry. It's not that you don't want what your purchasing, or that you don't need what you're purchasing. But you're probably not shopping as smart as you could.
That's the pattern I've seen recently.
Yea, I was hoping one move would get it out of their system. Then I was hoping the Buch trade was the end of it. Seems like theres no end in sight to this now.my point is more that it’s okay to add a goodrow, but don’t warp your draft around the concept.
Here’s the reactions so far:
takes othmann- omg why didn’t we draft a center
takes grubbe- omg why didn’t we draft the boom or bust winger
Some of you guys are insufferable
And then it’s on the team if they don’t live up to that.It doesn't matter what they are now or where they were drafted. They were all drafted as scorers.
my point is more that it’s okay to add a goodrow, but don’t warp your draft around the concept.
Obviously not on the Rangers’ list. How about we just take the best player available? At 16, that was Chaz Lucius. At 65, it was Pastujov.
How? Tell me how. Recently named GM, no head scout, no assistant GM, this is his first GM job and he's the president so he doesn't answer to anyone...How is that a pretty dumb take?
This is a pretty dumb take.
Scouts are still there. Bobrov got booted, Moorehouse is running the show.
But I digress, we can use him later on down the road with a 2nd rounder for a top 6 winger. My concern with Grubbe is that right now he's a character guy in the WHL. So we're not even talking AHL, let alone NHL. We're talking about 7 goals and 23 points across 62 games.
Even your quality bottom six guys tend to show a bit more than at the junior level. It's certainly not impossible for him to put it together more. But I've seen a lot of guys over the years with similar profiles, so I have some doubt there.
Did you see our draft room? We had Drury and 3 other guys, including one guy who was an agent (not even a scout).

Lol.
