2013 Playoffs - Western Conference Quarter Finals

:flames vs. :blues

St+Louis+Blues+v+Calgary+Flames+3C2okLv6VsYl.jpg

Miika Kiprusoff poke checks David Perron on a breakaway.

It was about as perfect as a playoff series can get for the Calgary Flames in round one. St Louis fans are once again singing the blues after their team was knocked out early. It only took the Flames four games to do it. Anze Kopitar and Miikka Kiprusoff stole the spotlight. Kopitar had 7 goals and 1 assist in 4 games and Kiprusoff had a GAA of 0.96 and a save percentage of .963%.

"Mike and Jarome did a great job setting me up. I have them to thank for my seven goals." Kopitar said with a laugh.

Game 1: 2-1 OT Win
Game 2: 4-1 Win
Game 3: 2-0 Win
Game 4: 5-2 Win

AFTER ANOTHER PRESIDENT'S TROPHY WINNING SEASON, EDMONTON OILERS ARE READY AND PREPARED TO REPEAT AS CUP CHAMPS

Lead by the offense of their star C Gareth Morrison, the Oilers are prepped and ready to threepeat as Stanley Cup champs. "Anytime you get a chance to win back to back it's something special. But if you can win it three years running, then you know you're up there with the greatest of teams." says D-man Shea Weber.

Here is a look at the upcoming playoff scenario:

Thats an interesting idea. What are the stats for your created Center and Dman?

Well, when I started the C was
6' 190 around a 78 OVR with ABA Pot
and the D was
6' 4" 205 around a 78-79 with ABA
I had them play 2 full years in the AHL before I brought them up to play with the big team.

Oh and an update:

Oilers win the Cup!
I'll post a full play-offs recap later tonight.

I've decided to do the post-Rick Nash Blue Jackets. Will try and get the first report up later tonight.
I wanted to do this too. What I'll do is move Erixon, Dubinsky and Anisimov to Columbus and Delisle to New York, but keep Nash. Right at the start of the season, I will trade him with that 3rd round pick in 2013 for New York's 1st round pick in 2013... That way I will have the pick. :D

GETZLAF VOTED TO ALL STAR TEAM
230px-Ryan_Getzlaf_2010.png

Ryan Getzlaf was fortunate enough to get voted onto the all star team considering he and his team, The Anaheim Ducks are off to one of their worst starts over the last few years. Getzlaf leads his team in points and goal scoring with 18G and 39Pts in 48 games played.

The ducks sit 13th in the west and 22nd in the league. Which is not great news for new GM Tom Renney or the fans, who clearly blame Renney for the Bobby Ryan trade.

Captain Jarome Iginla scored a shorthanded goal in overtime to send his team into the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2004.

"To score a goal like that... it's an indescribable feeling." Jarome said after the game. "You always dream of doing something like that when you're a kid. It's amazing."

OILERS THREEPEAT AS STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!

After the Oilers steamrolled through the Coyotes, they were in tougher than they thought in The Western Semi`s against Detroit, although they still disposed of the Wings in 6 games. Next up were the Nashville Predators, the 2nd seed in the Western Conferance Finals. They made quick work of the Preds in 5 games.
Then came the moment of truth. The 1st seeded Oilers were up against the 6th seeded Carolina Hurricanes, who was lead by their leading scorer Jeff Skinner. But just like the Preds before them, they too were no mathc and beaten in 5 games.

Here is the FULL Oilers Run to the Threepeat.

Round 1: vs. :coyotes (8th)
Game 1: 4-0 EDM
Game 2: 3-1 EDM
Game 3: 2-0 EDM
Game 4: 6-3 EDM
Get your brooms out as the sweep was on in PHX! Edmonton steamrolled over a very weak Coyotes team.

Round 2: vs :wings (6th)
Game 1: 4-3 EDM
Game 2: 3-0 EDM
Game 3: 2-3 DET
Game 4: 7-2 EDM
Game 5: 2-3 DET
Game 6: 3-0 EDM
Well, this series was much more challenging than the previous, but the aged Red Wings were no match for the speed and youthfulness of the Oilers team.

Round 3: vs. :nashville (2)
Game 1: 3-4 NSH
Game 2: 4-1 EDM
Game 3: 4-1 EDM
Game 4: 3-0 EDM
Game 5: 3-2 EDM
Well, Well, Well! The Preds actually managed to take the first game of the series. But the Oilers used that as motivation to dominate, and eliminate Nashville in the next four games.

Stanley Cup Finals: vs. :canes (6)
Game 1: 6-2 EDM
Game 2: 3-2 EDM
Game 3: 2-0 EDM
Game 4: 0-2 CAR
Game 5: 4-0 EDM
OH MY GOD! Stop the presses! The Oilers were actually shut out a game! As you can see, other than that, total Oiler domination.

Trophy Winnings:
Stanley Cup: Oilers
Presidents Trophy: Oilers
Clarence S. Campbell Bowl: Oilers
Prince of Wales Trophy: Oilers
Art Ross: C Gareth Morrison(EDM 129 Points)
Hart Memorial Trophy: C Gareth Morrison
Lady Byng: C Gareth Morrison(EDM 44 PIM's)
Frank J. Selke Trophy: C Gareth Morrison(EDM 129 Points, +56)
Ted Linsay Memorial Trophy: C Gareth Morrison(EDM)

I have one GM Mode with a created 99 OVR Defenseman and a Goalie, the Dman stats are pretty beast:

Career Games: 819
Career Goals: 241
Career Points: 628

And he has won Norris 9 times out of his 10 seasons.

how can dominating and winning all those trophies with injuries and the salary cap off be any fun? i would lose interest QUICK when i know that without a doubt i would win the Cup at the beginning of the season in a video game.

now if i felt that way about my team in real life, thats a different story. :)

Oh, I drafted the C Morrison, and had the D Moore in F.A. I had to trade like mad to get #1 overall pick!
and the DMan has won the Norris about 4-5 times now!
C Morrison now officially OWNS the Selke trophy! and is always a threat to win Art Ross.

You didn't read my other post did you?
The reason why is Im purposly TRYING to get a 99 OVR goalie 1000 wins in his career. Someone on the other threads tried this. It looked fun.

TO thos of you wanting to try it, I did the math. If he gets 50(+) wins a season, you can do it in 20 years. I made the goalie born in September of 1995, so he is the absolute youngest he could be.

Game five took the series back to Ottawa, and having them face
elimination. "We knew we needed to play better from then on,
and any mistake would cost us the cup." said head coach Paul
MacLean. With the roar of the crowd behind them, the Senators
responded with a 6 goal game of there own, and closing the gap
3-2 in the series.

In game 6, it was a very back and fourth battle. With Ottawa
scoring the first goal just minutes in, things seemed to be clicking
the way the hoped playing on the road, until Dany Heatley tied
things up at 1, and making for a very intense third period. With
just 3 minutes left in the period, Jason Spezza scored to secure
the game, and force a game 7.

With everything on the line, the pressure of a game 7, mixed with
the talent of Ottawa proved to be to much for Minnesota, and
ended up a blow out, with the Wilds goal coming in the last 2
minutes of the third period. Goaltender Robin Lehner for Ottawa
stood on his head for back to back games, and played a huge
roll in the Senators come back to win the Stanley Cup.

"It's an unreal feeling, I can't put it into words. It's something
you dream of as a kid, and to finally be there, its incredible."
