So i decided to a Fantasy Draft with the Boston Bruins

Is there a way to set the fantasy draft up so that older players such Brodeur, Jagr, Whitney, Lidstrom and Alfredsson aren't available in the very late rounds of your fantasy draft? Everytime I do a fantasy draft in "Be a GM" mode, I end up having ridiculous teams because the computer drafts a bunch of high-potential nobodies over the older All-Stars. I only like playing one season at a time, so I don't plan on simulating through the 2020-2021 season or anything.

Not at all that way with me

In fact, RNH, Larsson, Landeskog, Huberdeau all go undrafted. Im playing on standard difficulty though if that matters

1st of all "I'm so happy, not "i am so happy"
2nd: not write like this "Halifax knights finish season 50-27-5 for 2nd in the west" write like this: "Halifax Knights reached to playoffs and will play in 1st round against Edmonton Oilers "

I'm not sure, does that written correctly? But I hope my advice will help you :)

wow that is pretty bad. im kinda embarrassed now :baghead:

1st season finished with my Fantasy Draft Bruins, did not go so well. We finished the season with a 34-43-5 (73p) and were 29th in the league. The bright side is that i atleast have chance to win the lottery and get the #1 overall pick.

Top 3 Point scores on my team:
1. N. Backstrom, GP82, 28G+42A=70p
2. A. Burrows, GP82, 32G+26A=58p
3. P. Kane, GP80, 21G+35A=56p

Goalie stats:
C. Schneider, GP52, W25, L23, GAA 2.56, SV% .906, SO 6
R. Lehner, GP29, W6, L18, GAA 3.44, SV% .868, SO 1
J. Allen, GP7, W3, L2, GAA 2.67, SV% .900, SO 1

Gonna post the draft results soon.

I get the opposite, all young players go undrafted or in the later rounds such as: Hall, RNH, Seguin etc.

In the fantasy draft that I've been posting about on here, Gonchar, Selanne, Jagr, Alfredsson, and Kuba (to name a few) were all left over after the draft. Lidstrom usually gets drafted whether I take him or not, which I did. All those guys signed with CPU teams before the season began, so it's wasn't a huge deal to me. I only signed Kuba, and he ended up being in a package for Drew Doughty. I didn't draft these players because then my team would be really old and have a lot of fast retirements. Although, I play through numerous seasons, not one at a time like you do.

Islanders acquire Pavelski and Boyle in a blockbuster trade with Sharks

New York Islanders have acquired center Joe Pavelski and defenseman Dan Boyle in blockbuster, five player trade with the San Jose Sharks. Islanders traded center Matthew Lombardi and defensemen Mike Green and Andrew MacDonald to San Jose for those two players. Interesting fact of the trade is that all of those five players are an UFA after this season.

Joe+Pavelski+Dan+Boyle+Uq0BTSD4qfHm.jpg

Pavelski (#8) and Boyle (#22) will be Islanders players.

"We made a good deal in here. Pavelski is game's one of the best two-way centers. Although he will be playing on Tavares' wing this season, but next or after that we will have a great center trio with Tavares-Sutter and Pavelski. I have always admired teams like Boston and Pittsburgh who has center depth. Of course Sharks had too with Marleau, Thornton and Pavelski. That was one reason why Doug Wilson could trade Pavelski. He said that he won't move his wingers and I accept it", said Southfield in his conference call.

Joe Pavelski is 29-years old American center who is known about his two-way game. He has made 5 goals and given 15 assists in 26 games this season with the Sharks. In last season Pavelski made 28 goals. He will be, as mentioned, UFA after this season. Pavelski's contract is worth of 4M dollars.

Dan Boyle is 37-years old Canadian defenseman who plays an great offensive game. He has been one of the best offensive defenseman in his era. Boyle has made 1 goal and 7 assists in this season's 19 games. In last year Boyle made 44 points. He will be also UFA, Boyle makes 6.6M dollars.

"With addition of Joe and Dan, we are a better team. We have now an amazing quality up-front and I love that. I talk with mr. Wilson about this trade and we get an agreement pretty fast. I wanted Boyle, even if he is bit of old as 37-years old, but I surely wanted him to replace Green and MacDonald's place. Also Mark Eaton will get playing time now. I talked also with Doug Murray who knows these guys as good as his pockets and he extremely recommend me to trade for Pavelski and Boyle."

"Also one thing in this trade is a good one. We got more money and salaries. That helps us a lot, when we are so close to salary floor. I'm more than happy with the outcome of this trade for our hockey club. But also, the sword has two ends. We lost tremendous guys, especially Andrew MacDonald. He has been loyal for us this whole three years what I have been as manager of this team. A great guy, amazing character. Sharks wanted him badly, wanted in two years ago too, when we acquired Murray. Today they got their guy", told Southfield about his feelings.

"When I talked with Doug Wilson, he said his hockey club got perfect for now and for future in this trade. They changed Lombardi, player who has maiden 3g + 17a this season to their third center and got an amazing defenseman for years to come in Mike Green. Also Andrew MacDonald has many years in him to be a great defenseman. I got a players I liked. Joe Pavelski was a huge factor in this trade. He was the guy I wanted. Dan Boyle is a HUGE plus too", stated GM as his last words.

Dan Boyle will be wearing number 22 in his jersey and Joe Pavelski will wear number 8, as when Mark Eaton changes his number for number 6.

Here are Islanders lines after this trade:

Joe Pavelski - John Tavares - Michael Grabner
Jeremy Morin - Brandon Sutter - Nikolai Antropov
Matt Martin - Matt Hendricks - Jack Skille
Patrick Bordeleau - Michael Haley - Ben Smith
George Parros

Dan Boyle - Travis Hamonic
Doug Murray - Jonathon Blum
Mark Eaton - Milan Jurcina

Michal Neuvirth
Jose Theodore

Beaulieu also signed

New York Islanders have signed defenseman Nathan Beaulieu for one year, two-way contract. Beaulieu was Montreal's first round choice in 2011 draft. He will help struggling Bridgeport immediately.

Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson announces retirement

Alfredssson met with media following his choice to retire

"It was the hardest decision of my career, but one that had to be
made. I just don't have enough in the tank to keep going. I loved
all my time here in Ottawa, and would like to thank the fans for
the support they've given not only myself, but the team over all
these years. It was a great ride."

*In addition, Sergei Gonchar also retired for Ottawa.

I will be starting another one soon. Although I just started, disk scratched and I have to get it fixed! Will probably do the Sea Dogs, even though they are a great run team. If anyone wants me to, I will do any team, and start from scratch except not Moncton or PEI!

Draft Day Delight
Senators make two monster deals on 2013 draft day

Kronwall.jpg

Kronwall was traded to Ottawa just moments prior to the draft

Rumors going into the draft were quiet, but draft day sure wasn't.
General manager Bryan Murray was quite active, making two big
splashes; acquiring Kronwall and the 4th overall pick.

TRADES:

Ottawa Receives:
- D Niklas Kronwall

Detroit Receives:

- C Jim O'Brien
- D Brad Stuart

"We're sad to have to let go of two players who have been great
for us, but that's hockey. When Detroit proposed this deal to us,
we felt it would help both teams. Jim's a great bottom six player
who plays with a lot of heart, but with young players pushing for
a roster spot, we felt as though he deserved to play for a team
where he could excel."

"We also feel like bringing in Kronwall is an awesome addition to
our team. Niklas can more then fill the void Stuart is going to
leaving, and can be used in more rolls. As a Swed, we believe
he can be used as a leader to some of the younger guys like
Silfverberg, Zibanejad, Landeskog and Lindholm, who are also
Swedish. With Alfredsson retiring, we were really think he'll be an
important part to making the kids feel comfortable."

------------------------------------------------------------------

Ottawa Receives:
- 2013 1st Round Pick [via Phoenix] (4th Overall; Seth Jones, D)

Colorado Receives:
- 2014 1st Round Pick
- 2013 4th Round Pick (114th; Carter Sandlak, LW)
- 2013 5th Round Pick (144th; Alex Gudbranson, D)

Jones_Seth_2012_U18_USA_14857.jpg

D-Man Seth Jones of with Portland Winterhawks, taken 4th overall by the Ottawa Senators

Going into the draft with no picks in the until round 4, Senators GM
Bryan Murray traded Ottawa's 2014 1st round pick along with two
late picks to Colorado for the 4th overall pick (PHX). Ottawa
previously had the pick before trading it to Colorado in the Gabriel
Landeskog deal.

4th Overall - D, Seth Jones:

The right-shot defenseman has excellent skating skills for his size
and raw athletic ability which should allow him to transition to the
NHL as early as Age 19. He is an outstanding player both
offensively and defensively. He can dominate games for the full
length of the ice and is a very mature and composed person on
and off the ice. His leadership qualities are outstanding.
http://www.thescoutingreport.org/jones-next-blueliner/

"After the first 3 picks went by, and Seth was still on the board, we
knew we had to move up and take him. Hes an incredible talent
who we could see on the Senators blue-line as early as next
season. We feel as though with this pick, we have a stacked
prospect cupboard, and can start moving towards becoming a cup
contender, hence why we dealt our pick next year."
- Bryan Murray

anyone have tips on player development?

like what is the best method

Personally, I like keeping prospect in the minors till around 80-83,
and if I project them for a top 6 either put them in it right away if
they have a good enough offensive category, or on the 3rd line
and try to roll 3 scoring lines. If they are bottom 6 players for me,
I have no problem trying on the 4th line for there 1st season.

As defensemen, for the most part when they get to around 81+ I'll
bring em up to the big leagues. I almost always start em on the 3rd
pairing unless they are 83+, but depending on what type they are,
I'll also give them secondary PP/PK time as well.

WOW, just awesome! It's nice to see Da Costa in your lines :handclap: But, I would buy new goalkeeper, because in my be a gm's Lehner hasn't be good, but if he will play good, then you don't need to buy new goalkeeper :) And why Locke (Corey?) is into 4th line in AHL?

Really? Lehner is usually solid in mine. As for Locke on the fourth line, most likely so that younger players with potential get more ice-time.

Someone who turns out awesome when you actually use him is Simon Denis-Papin at 6'7" he's not the fastest dude but you already know what the AI is gonna do when coming into your zone so he's fun to crush people with.
I forget who it is but in the 12/13 draft year, there's some dude listed at 5'1

He is Mark Stone, who is a great offensive prospect for Ottawa (in real life anyway). Having him on the top line makes sense.

Also, I may consider a Habs beagm.
Thanks man
Habs seem like a fun team. You have a nice core to build with, but also a lot of spots open which can let you be creative.

Thank you!:)

Some players like Da Costa, Pageau and Noesen are prospects I'm really pulling for, so I hope they can all continue to develop nicely.

As for Lehner, I really want my team to kind of have a somewhat legit feel to it by keeping home grown talent, so I really hope hes able to take the next step. While last year he wasn't amazing, he held his own and is off to a 6-0 start, with a 1.35 GAA and .948 SV% this year. He's also been pretty good for me in terms of overall in past GM modes, getting to the early 90's. Might be harder this time for him since his potential dropped off a bit.

I have Locke with 4th line duties because like Little Jacob said, I like giving my younger guys with potential having the extra ice time. Seems to help quite a bit with there development. I was considering the 3rd line, but I like Grant+Hoffman together. I may actually may switch Conboy out for him.

It's actually Mark Stone, who's one of Ottawa's top prospects. In real life hes been tearing up the WHL the past 2 years and lead Canada last year in the IIHF World Juniors. He might be able to crack with Senators roster this season, if all goes well. I definitely want to keep him in an offensive roll since if he ever does crack my NHL roster, it'll be from his scoring talent.

Just read this after I posted. Glad you agree :) Hoping for a big year in bingo for him or he might not crack my team ever.

Thanks a lot for the kind words guys. This is my first time doing anything like this, so it's nice getting feedback. I was kind of giving up, since I didn't think anyone even read it
