Buffalo Bills The Doldrums of the NFL Off-season have arrived

I'm talking about after he got drafted. Not adding weight during college pre-draft.

I don’t understand your point. There’s a ton of examples of players adding weight after your drafted. 15-20 pounds is achievable for plenty of players.

If you’re arguing about whether they should need to or if it’s a good idea, that’s a different issue

The next pick is the most interesting in the draft for me. EVERYONE knew we needed a CB and a DT. The next biggest need was probably the most debated topic of the offseason (assuming it's not an early double dip).

Is it an Edge, Safety, WR, LB?

Probably edge. Isn't one of the guys we signed during FA suspended for 6 games and who knows if Bosa stays healthy.

It's also a positive thing to see them prioritize the interior. We needed to get younger and more talented, rather than always relying on veterans who couldn't hold onto a starting job elsewhere.

It took four years for Beane to draft interior, after Oliver. Now, we have Dewayne Carter and TJ Sanders in back-to-back drafts. And, there's still time. Beane could take a wild swing on someone the same way he took a chance on Benford after Elam.

Great to see that kind of investment, rather than burning assets on a runningback year after year.
Yeah at least he hit the position of need, I'm open minded to the player, could've been a much worse head scratcher.

I don't get the narrative of planning for Bosas's injury, we're 5-deep at edge once Hoecht's suspension is over. If there isn't an injury, are we going to roster 6 DE's in week 7? (Yes, I assume that Epenesa & Solomon are both better than rookie 3rd rounder in a supposed weak edge draft)

Also, Benford, Rapp, Milano, and Kincaid could all be labeled as injury risks, but we're not drafting based on them missing time.

All that said I do really want us to grab Swinson

Broke? The Bills were much worse against the pass than the run last year. They were top 10 in virtually all the advanced metrics against the run.
Sing it from the mountaintop. They've been one of the better run defenses in the league for several years now. Their approach works just fine. They win at the first level by having DL penetrate into the backfield and get a lot of stops, instead of tying up OL to let their LBs make plays. Which, is hardly some phenomenon unique to the Bills. Teams that run even fronts have been doing this for decades.

Now, this is a tough approach for their LBs. Particularly when you consider the fact that they like undersized, speedy LBs who can cover. So they compensate for that by having physical safeties and a physical nickel corner who flood the second level of the defense and make a bunch of plays.

Collectively, this all works together pretty nicely in stopping the run, as they consistently have strong defensive metrics. I don't see why they would or should change course.
