Buffalo Bills The Doldrums of the NFL Off-season have arrived

Landon Jackson possible next target? I know we had a visit with him too.
Hope not. Too stiff. Either a big ugly run stuffer or an EDGE with a knack for getting after the QB. Don't need anymore "set the EDGE" guys that average 3 sacks a season.

Donovan Ezeiruaku & Alfred Collins my two favorites remaining.

Emmanawori & Landon Jackson are worst case scenarios.

Uh, what? This simply not true. He probably has some of the best bend of any guy his size I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t have the best feet, but he’s far from stiff.

He has one of the worst pressure rates of all the EDGE guys this year. He's very stiff. That's why he didn't run any agility drills at the combine. .

Agree on Jackson, but what's wrong with Emmanawori?
His film isn't great. Poor agility. Late to make reads. That's why he's dropped out of the first. NFL teams learned their lesson with Isaiah Simmons. You want your safeties to be cerebral and move like a cat. Not struggle with reads & stiff.

Was hyped up because of his size & his ability to run in a straight line fast.

Brugler calls Landon stiff:

With his athletic, broad-shouldered physique, Jackson has NFL size and attacks blocks with physical hands and active feet to shock and separate from contact. His tall pads and lower-body stiffness will create occasional issues setting the edge and diminish his ability to counter when his first move is ineffective, but he maintains his vision to the football to clean up plays and constantly be around the action. Overall, Jackson has a different type of pass-rushing skill set because he isn’t a super-fluid athlete, but his raw power, strength in his hands and consistent effort make him effective. He should be expected to compete for starter-level snaps as a rookie.

I would definitely prefer a much bigger swing at the position.

I like Hairston. Big swing at a potential star who also has a decent floor. The few weaknesses in his game are more coachable. The Beast doesn't say anything about return ability, but with the new kickoff his speed might be something there. Big personality, from suburban Detroit (not a Grosse Pointe cake eater but West Bloomfield) and I like getting cold weather kids when possible.

Given that their profiles have a couple similarities, I hope and have to think that we learned from the Elam experience. From the scouts understanding where they maybe got tricked on Elam's tape, to Beane analyzing personalities and weighing the risks, to the coaching staff having a better idea of what works and doesn't in development. I'd feel a bit better about how this could go knowing they've self-evaluated over Elam.

Still I bet Beane is likely feeling a couple butterflies taking another traitsy young SEC corner four years later. At least we didn't trade up this time.

He’s 6’7”. Almost nobody that tall did the agility drills. You could argue he’s stiff for a defensive end, but not for his size. And his progression from year to year is insane. He’s a completely different player this year from two years ago. His pressure rate increased every year. Bendy, productive, 3 down pass rushers aren’t available in the 2nd round.

Who? Abdul Carter? Me too. His athletic profile is barely different from Mykel Williams. I feel like a lot of these draft nicks get hung up on prior year tape. It’s super weird to call him stiff when his change of direction on tape in 2024 is crazy good. I like Swinson (another supposedly “stiff” player), and Ezairaku (who’ll be gone) better but that’s it among available DEs.

I'd be happy with almost any of the +300lb DTs that will be on the board - Collins, Sanders, Farmer, Alexander (although his age is a little concerning), West.

I'm happy to go edge with the other pick, but if Watts is still on the board, he would be very hard to pass on.

Swinson is my favorite day 2 edge guy, his speed to power rushes are downright scary:

Mike Green, Donovan Ezeiruaku, and Oluwafemi Oladejo are my three favorite options on the board

With only one CB taken before them, I had the feeling the bills having their pick of the litter was too much of a good thing to pass up. Like the pick.

I’d love to draft a DT and DE with our next two picks, but I trust whatever they do

His pressure rate is close to Solomon Thomas & Payton Turner coming out of the draft. Payton Turner is probably his best comparison. His career high is 6.5 sacks. That's not productive. He's 6'6. Swinson is 6'4 and had elite agility scores. Jackson didn't do them because he knows his scores would be awful & hurt his combine. He's not bendy.

I want a guy who can get after the QB. Jackson struggled doing that in college. Don't see him being able to learn how to do it in the pros.
