Maybe Hoffman needs a few days of rest?
He had a couple given they blew Seattle out on sunday and then had the off day yesterday.

That should be enough especially given he threw under 20 pitches in both appearances against Seattle. I'm fine with that being an excuse when they legitimately ran him into the ground last week, not really the same rn.

Just looks like the guy is in a funk right now. (Though the hit he gave up to Jansen was lucky BS)

Edit: Hoff is 40th amongst relievers in innings pitched.

Who knows, he struck out the first batter easily. Then he started throwing off speed stuff when he has a great fastball. Similar thing happened the other times he got shelled.

Hoffman no longer looking like the clear better choice for closer anymore lol. Two really rough outings can really hurt that era

Yup, started nibbling on the #8 hitter and walked him, then a seeing-eye base hit on a hit-and-run and all of a sudden everything is unravelling.

Compared to Romano? Yeah, everything about Hoffman's numbers still looks a lot better despite the recent blow-ups.

I don't think anyone, including the Jays, will be out of it come the deadline. Doubt very much Toronto will be selling.
This is exactly as i called it too. The AL East had no standout favorite like say, the NL West as all 5 teams had pretty significant weaknesses but at the same time, boom/bust potential where they could all easily finish between 70-90 wins. Fangraphs projections were even more tight iirc.

I would prefer the Jays get it going sooner rather than later. Take advantage while everyone is trying settle in.

Fun fact: Varsho has more HR so far this year than his dad had in any of his big league seasons.

Also Kirk puts that mass to good use again, generating sufficient force. Physics!

I would have expected his gravitational pull to bring all the balls back to home plate but apparently not ;)

He uses his gravity to redirect and slingshot the ball back out. He's just lucky he doesn't achieve so much velocity that the ball time travels like in Star Trek.
