Hi All,

This is the first time I've created a thread. While I seen discussions of who won't be back or might get surpassed by a youngster, I've been thinking about the young players.

Based on the playoffs I really think Charlie McAvoy should have a shot at playing for Boston next year. So I've not listed him here.

But if we're going to be replacing Moore, Shaller, Liles, etc. with a player on an ELC, who do people think is most likely to earn their way onto the squad?

JFK
Sean Kuraly
Austin Czarnik
Jake DeBrusk
Zach Senyshyn
Jesse Gabrielle
Danton Heinen
Peter Cehlarik
Ryan Fitzgerald
Jeremy Lauzon
Jakub Zboril
Emil Johansson
Rob O’Gara
Matt Grzelcyk

Also - I wish Sweeney success in getting Bjork to turn pro. I'd love to add his name to the list. :)

honestly, for the first time ever that I`ve been a Bruin fan, there`s so many "potentials" that I can`t decide

I know I know, easy way out but that`s how I feel

ok fine, If I were to lay some bets, I`d say we`ll see DeBrusk and JFK + one D-man, no clue who that will be

In my mind, Kuraly already made it, and I expect Cehlarik and DeBrusk to break camp with the big club as well. Heinen and JFK will fight it out for Spooners spot if he doesn't come back.

Kuraly
DeBrusk
Heinen

In that order.

I didn`t vote for Kuraly as I feel that the only thing preventing him a spot next year is he is thoroughly outplayed by another young player but one thing he has at his advantage is Sweeney and Co know exactly what they will get come playoff time with him

My dark horse is probably Zboril - I think he'll put weight on this summer and his skating ability will be irresistible at camp. Zboril-Killer could be all kinds of mean.

I'd say...

Kuraly is a lock for the 4th line.
Cehlarik has first dibs on Krejci's LW.

I think DeBrusk will make a case to bump Cehlarik but that line will have good chemistry and work better with the Slovak.

Not sure there are spots for anyone else. Post-season presser sounded as if Spooner might be staying and Backes may be staying at RW.

IF they move Spooner I could see Czarnik getting first crack at that spot. If they surprise and move Backes to C then I could see Heinen get a shot as Bergy's RW. Maybe DeBrusk too, if he can play his off-wing. But it sounded like Backes to C would only happen if they acquired acquired a RW.

Guys who could play in the NHL but will probably be left without a chair when the music stops...
DeBrusk, Czarnik, Heinen, Grzelcyk, O'Gara, McIntyre.

OT: I'm assuming Bjork goes back to school.

1. JFK is getting a shot at third line center. He will own it in 2018 but TBD in 2017

2. Bjork is logicsl answer if he signs

3. My pick that I want sole responsibility for via live watching and not going by the HF Fairt Tale Stats (FTS) community is Danton Heinen

I am calling it the rest can find their own guy

Kuraly & Acciari I'm not counting

Heinen was already "my guy"

I think he and DeBrusk both "pass" Cehlarik on the totem pole shortly.

I agree on Kuraly and Acciari. Think they are already penciled in.

I'm limiting myself to the Providence guys, since I've seen alot more of them. I'm going off the board a little bit, I really like Colby Cave's game. Very defensively responsible, good skater, some offensive skill. I see him as a Riley Nash type eventually. Debrusk will be a solid NHLer. I don't see a high ceiling for him, but he is going to be a responsible 2 way player who can chip in some offense. He improved a ton this year.

My best guess is Ogara, I think he is ready to play bottom pairing D. That being said we have more spaces on O available and I would think Debrusk is the most likely forward to stick with the club.

Debrusk has the pedigree, proved himself in the AHL and plays at a position of need, he's my choice.

This is a really tough call. Some may fall in the 'can't miss' category, but clearly there is lots of potential in this group. I've been a Bruin's fan for more than half a century (yep, I'm old. And cranky too), but I have never seen the B's prospect coffers this stack. Impressive. Add the following names (in the system prospects) to the above list, and it becomes even more impressive:

Clarke
Lindgren
Bjork
Frederic
Donato
Koppanen
Hughes
Steen
Becker
Sherman
Vladar

Let's Go Bruins!

If he does he can probably end up in the top 3 on your list IMO.

Hopefully they've learned their lesson with Spooner and will move on. I listened to the interview with Butch today and he mentioned Spooner and next year int eh same breath. Maybe it's to keep his trade value up but if didn't sound that way.

I didn't vote for Kuraly as I feel that the only thing preventing him a spot next year is he is thoroughly outplayed by another young player but one thing he has at his advantage is Sweeney and Co know exactly what they will get come playoff time with him

Funny thing was that as far as I've seen Kuraly hasn't done anything until now to gain their trust. He had a couple shots up here with the big club and didn't break out until the playoffs. Who knows if that was the real player or if the real player is the guy that we saw in the playoffs? Can he sustain that level of energy during a long NHL season? Feels like we'll find out starting in September.

Kuraly and Cehlarik IMO are a lock from what they showed last year, question is will they keep it up? It's nice that Kuraly raised his tempo in the heat of the playoffs but will he continue to grow, to maintain what he started in the playoffs?
The other question mark that I'm left with is that I would've liked to see what Cehlarik could've done if he had played against Ottawa in the playoffs?

Cehlarik did literally nothing (except look good) when he was up in Boston. He produced 2 assists in 11 games, and people are penciling him into the Top 6. Don't see it and think he will be passed by some of the other prospects who play more of a 3 zone game.

From a merit perspective, I think DeBrusk and OGara get a long look at a slot since they paid their dues this season in Providence. DeBrusk has really lit it up lately showing me he "gets it" and is ready to move on

Kuraly bought a slot on the 4th line with his performance in OT.

He energized Krejci for a while and that in itself is something.

Yeah, I thought that O'Gara looked good in his time here and could turn out to be a good shutdown d-man.

Senyshyn if he can put the puck in the net like in jr. could be a dark horse. Bruins could use scorers. Never have enough of them.
