It's been a couple of years since Thomas Steen was inducted into the Jets Hall of Fame in 2020. Not only do we have several ex-Jets to choose from, but a couple of players who were an integral part of the Jets 2.0 team.
Selanne broke Mike Bossy's rookie scoring record, and that record remains today - 76 goals. Selanne also won the Calder Trophy, was pretty much an all-star if healthy, and has been an ambassador for the City of Winnipeg and a class act. He also is in the NHL Hall of Fame. Selanne is arguably the most popular Winnipeg Jets player in the history of the team.Teemu played 231 games with the jets. Equivalent of less than 3 seasons. No matter how amazing he was, I don’t think he would qualify for the Jets hall of Fame due to this alone.
I’m sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but it’s just that….one person’s opinion.
It was an unreal apex. I have alot of respect for him...but it was too short of a Winnipeg stint to qualify in my humble opinion. There needs to be some requirement tied to duration with teamTeemu played 231 games with the jets. Equivalent of less than 3 seasons. No matter how amazing he was, I don’t think he would qualify for the Jets hall of Fame due to this alone.

I was going to say Byfuglien, that Selanne (as much as I love him) didn't play here that long.I think its gotta be Teemu. The rumor is that the next set of Adidas Reverse Retro jerseys are coming out for next season and I couldn't think of a better seller perhaps in the entire league than the 90's Jets logo coming back. PLUS it would also be the 30 year anniversary of Teemu's record breaking rookie season. The planets are aligned.
Somehow feels like Teemu played in Winnipeg longer than he really did. I guess it's the sentimentality for me as I was a kid just getting interested in hockey when he was playing here.I was going to say Byfuglien, that Selanne (as much as I love him) didn't play here that long.
But you make a persuasive argument here. 30th anniversay, 90s reverse retro.
Only question is do they admit anyone else at the same time, since Selanne would get the lion's share of the attention...
Maybe a bit of nostalgia involved, but I don't think Teemu's overall career or impact on Jets history can be denied. I debated a bit between him and Carlyle, but in the end, can never forget Teemu's rookie season and to this day he still seems to be one who endures in Winnipeggers' memories.
I doubt it, but I could maybe see Teppo going in with him, if anybody. Probably would be the last guys of that era to be inducted, even though I would love to see Zhamvov in there too.Only question is do they admit anyone else at the same time, since Selanne would get the lion's share of the attention...
Seen.Carlyle is already in. He went in at the same time as Steen.
Buff totally agree.I'd like to see Teppo in there.
To be honest I can see all of them someday.
I know many are still sour at Buff and justifiably so in many respects. But I think the big man earned it in his time here. Of the current era Wheeler should go up there as well and Scheifele would have been an easy yes, but it remains to be seen what comes of his situation. Little deserves it IMO in time.
Selanne I can see both sides of the debate but ultimately I say in. His love for Winnipeg has never waned. He considers himself a Duck first and foremost but the man clearly has a place in his heart for the city that has a place for him. Can you imagine the induction evening? Whoo doggies.
Carlyle I wouldn't be opposed to either, but to be honest I don't remember all that much from his career here. I always sort of thought he was on the downswing of his career when he came here. He'd be my last on the list.
