Mixed feelings with this one. They are certainly worthy of those roles and congratulations to them but Mendes and St-Laurent were probably the best and most objective writers we had covering the team. Now they are team employees.

Hopefully this opens up some opportunities for some new blood in covering the team. People who hopefully are knowledgeable, put some effort in their writing and don't have columns littered with grammar mistakes

Obvious things for these guys to do:

Free Brady Takchuk onesies for fans once his new kid is born

Roger Nielsen tie knight. Everyone wears an ugly tie to the game. Travis Green can just wear his normal tie. Maybe versus Vancouver

work on Tim Stutzle dating Taylor Swift

Good for mendez. But yeah going to miss his reporting.

Smart move to hire a journalist who is probably already good friends with everyone covering the sens.

Im looking forward to seeing what Mendes will do in the role.

He’s certainly had his finger on the pulse of the fanbase for a long time and is a great communicator.

He also seems to leave no stone unturned to find interesting stories for fans.

Will be interesting to read back some of his mailbags where he answered questions about what he would try and do for marketing if he worked for the team and see if any of those ideas filter over

Another blow to good journalism. It's taking a beating. But congrats to both, hopefully they can help in likely modernizing the new media landscape

Hot damn those are some awesome hires for the Sens - gonna miss Ian's coverage, but what an asset to have, on both counts!

Great hires! Integrity plus!
A different view from the other side of the fence and a big role for both Mendes and St. Laurent.
Now Mendes is an authentic "insider" but in control of what gets out and what the message will be.
