Helly supposedly wants a lot of money for an extension. That being said, he would absolutely be a game changer for them net. They’re already insanely good offensively.

He’ll be 31 as a UFA, gonna command $8M p/yr. They may get Fleury or Holtby on that deal. No matter how much the cap goes up, they can get Panthered quickly.

I think if you go back to Pageau's first game with the Islanders that is part of what Isles felt made him so valuable. He scored a big goal and then immediately fought after a late hit. That is something Haula is not going to do. That being said Pageau is clearly not going to be 100% again after his slew of injuries. I would love if they could get out of that contract.

Not to look too far ahead, but going with Varly, sadly (for the Isles) helps the Devils get a possible angle for Sorokin as UFA.

But I think people here are looking at Barrie’s positives while overlooking the negatives that have always been there.

With McDonagh, I think the Isles benefit from a better overall player AND insulate Dobson for further improvement in his game.

That makes sense but who runs the power play? I don’t want Dobson running the first unit. He needs to grow into that role.
