Amazing. Lol
Let's re-visit the SEA expansion draft thread for all the expert commentary on how bad Ron Francis was as a GM!!![]()
Move to KC
Quick read says the project would have been privately funded, so no public dollars spent on it, right? And voters rejected ”On the ballot were propositions 301, 302, and 303, which would have removed an unlined landfill next to Tempe Town Lake and replace it with the sports and entertainment district.” I’m no expert, but removing an unlined landfill generally seems like a good idea, at no taxpayer expense even better.
I think the city was on the hook for a couple hundred million in infrastructure work/upgrades and that was part of it. They also were giving the developers a property tax break that opponents said was equal to about $500 over the 30 years of whatever it was. I also think folks were saying, do we really need a 3rd 15k+ person arena in the area? And Phoenix was suing Tempe over it, saying it was too close to the airport or something.Move to KC

Every Flyers fan under 30 is having a conniption over this. Good luck Jonesy.
I can see them moved in the next 2-3 months, if not sooner.....if not, slim chance they play past this year in Arizona if they can get out of any agreement they have in the current facility.Because I saw the conversation mentioned in the playoffs thread, tough news for Coyotes fans with the public referendum regarding the proposed development ending in a loss. Coyotes' arena plan in Tempe rejected by voters. Particularly after the money the team spent to upgrade the facilities and play at ASU.
In 2011 things moved very quickly to WInnipeg from Atlanta. If the Coyotes have no backup plans I can't imagine they want to hang out around for very long in a 5k university arena.
Several factors involved but getting chased out of Glendale probably didn't inspire confidence.
Wang's round table went up in smoke rather quickly when Pat Lafontaine walked out on him and they then fired Neil Smith. He was actually making moves that were making the team more competitive. I guess when Neil took the job he didn't think Wang was serious about the group GM process.Sort of like when Wang wanted multiple GM’s?

What the proponents left out was that public funds would have been used to remediate the landfill at a cost of $200-300 million.Move to KC

I can’t believe they don’t want to run it back again in Toronto. They just had their most successful season with Dubas at the helmExciting times.
