Rangers have done everything the right way. They’ve gone through the process honestly and admirably, and they have been rewarded for it...TWICE

I always was and remain about "preserving the tank," (well, maybe not much anymore, other than we need a center).

But signing Panarin was always the right move. Not good enough by himself to completely lift us out of the lottery (and he needed explosive years from Fox, DeAngelo, Shesterkin and Zibanejad to even get us to 11th slot), but an elite player the likes of which would not be available again most likely in 2-3 years when we wanted a capstone free agent.

Just enjoy this. You see what Svechnikov did to us? Well Lafreniere is better than Svechnikov. You get beast mode from Lafreniere every game. He’ll also push Kakko and Kravtsov indirectly.

This is a cap league, but you need to manage the cap. You need not manage it by sending away production for nothing tangible.

Quite the opposite.
It is potential, and that can be signif.
Also often more potential dealt for proven assets, so lots of hits with potential to profit with abundance of riches.

Finally, picks are universal currency. Flexibility.

Kreider can fly thru the zone from either side. Scored a beauty against Carolina from that right side. Buchy is the guy that’s a goner

He's the first guy I'd try. He'd have more net to shoot at coming down the right side. I don't know if there's a rush to move Buch just yet, who knows what you're going to see from Kravtsov. Strome is the guy the need to figure out.

watching highlights of this kid making insane passes to set up his teams the idea of having him on the opposite wing of kako or kravtsov as LH shots on the right wing is pretty exciting...who knows if he will even be on NY this year but VK's skill level could be a perfect fit there atleast offensively

The Rangers twitter account has already been posting a bunch of stuff about him, the MSG youtube video posted an interview with him already, I think they've walked right up to that line without going over it so far

Gorton and the team has pretty much done that minus crossing the line, which there is no reason to do.

I wouldn't.

No crazy travel schedule prior to rookie season, no learning a new language and hes a better player coming into the league. Hes more physically ready to handle the rigors of the NHL and just from a mental standpoint, he's been ready for this.

I wouldn't play the 2 of them together at ES though. Like it or not, Quinn is going to start him next to Howden or Chytil and on PP2 unless he just forces the issue (and even then, that may still be the case bc Quinning.)

I think 60-70 points in a full season with proper PP time is entirely possible.

there’s plenty there for a couple guys to hit. I’m really not concerned about LD we just have to be a little patient there. Especially when our right side is so dominant

I’m really not concerned wirh 2C either when you have Mika a bonafied 27 year old superstar center at the top and Chytil already showing 30 pt downside at 20.

And can roll out play driving wingers like Lafreniere Panarin Kakko to surround them.

Then you have Kreider Kravtsov Gauthier And will probably grab another forward in the first round this year of a super deep draft.

and like it or not this franchise believes in Brett Howden. He’s going to be in the mix.

the problem, imo, is ADA is almost a luxury item YET b/c the team is young, and inexperienced, and has some vets who won’t let go, and plays questionable on the boards and is poor back-checking, etc that ADA is a NECESSITY.

GMs usually never say who they are drafting even if it’s obvious. I

In past years, players sent back to the CHL could not be recalled until their season ended, except in an emergency situation. Typically, that only happens with goalies, as it happened with DiPietro 2 years ago.

With Covid and the NHL season likely starting after the CHL season starts, I wonder if the rule will be amended. The QMJHL is targeting Oct 1st for their start date. If that goes off as planned, Lafreniere can choose to play for Rimouski again, but if that rule remains as is, that's probably not in his best interest. I'm sure he wants to play in the NHL asap. Either way, the Rangers won't have have a say in the matter, as he won't be a Rangers' prospect until October 9th.

I would think the CHL would be on board with amending the rule for just this year. After all, an extra month or so of Lafreniere (and others) is better than nothing.

The Robertson and Jones pucks were especially great. Robertson was considered a first round talent and Jones might be one of the big steals

If your 1OA is a LW, he’s a LW. You build your team around that not the other way around.

We've waited forever to be in a position to draft elite young talent. Now we can two years in a row. Finding pieces to compliment them is the easy part.

Robertson is young so he might take a while.

Hajek, he has to do more so he isn’t lost in the names IMO.
