If they get Lafreniere then they have 3 lines of NHL forwards, assuming their belief in Kravtsov is correct. If they can keep Fast too then the 4th line is pretty much there too. It's a matter of getting Smith and Staal out of the way.

LW - Panarin, Lafreniere, Kreider, Lemieux
C - Zibanejad, Chytil, Strome, Howden
RW - Kakko, Kravtsov, Buchnevich, Fast

That's not a bad set of 12 forwards.

Minnesota or Florida are also reasonable landing spots. The Wild suck and Florida will need a new star to build around after they have to trade Barkov and/or Huberdeau because their ownership is hemorrhaging money.

I hate the Penguins, and it would be sickening to see them get #1, but they got screwed with the playoff system and that should absolutely be reflected in the draft lottery.

Sure we could move up, specially if the draft is deep. Because me and other teams might rather have more picks in general.

ahh, that’s not true.

The Pens have an equal chance at 12.5% with none greater or worse than the field. When comparing that 12.5% “traditional route” they would have to be ranked 3rd worst to have odds close to 12.5% (they would be at 11.5% if 3rd worst)

At #16 their odds under a “traditional route” would have been 1% with everybody having better odds. Tonight they’re at 12.5% and everybody is equal.

edit - actually at#16 they would have 0%. #15 has a 1% shot
