Yeah, I am seeing him replaced as well. I just asked one of the Finnish guys on the "International Tournaments" section of HF to make sure. Hopefully he gets back to me.

Playing for TPS>WJC

That should be the first priority for his season.

Its harder to get onto the WJC without playing in previous games for the Finnish U-20 team, but its best for him to concentrate on him being in the lineup for TPS to start the season. If he gets onto the WJC team, thats a bonus, playing with TPS this season and being in the lineup is more important.

Reh-U-nah-nen?

Think you get even a bit closer with Reh-O-nah-nen. Finish U is closer to O than U.

On "Tarmo", and here the finish posters have to correct me if I am wrong, to me at least its a very "old persons name" if you get what I mean. My reaction when hearing his name was like, how old is he? 93?

I don't know what a good comparison is in English. Like drafting someone named Zebulon Smith maybe. ;)

Per Google translate, "Edges" or "Edgie" could be a good hockey nickname for this kid. :)

The guy got back to me and said he is no longer on the Roster. Could be that he is sick...who knows...but he is not on the roster now.

Players must accept to play in international tournaments so there is far from always any contact between coach and player before the selection. Normally when a team is picked you get a few turndowns due to sickness or injury. Could be anything from a cold to a sore groin to a serious injury. It's groin season...

How the hell are you able to come up with that comparison with English being your second language. That's just amazing to me!

Tarmo kind of is one of those old names, yeah. But so is Teuvo.

Tarmo actually means something like "energy". Like you can call a person "Tarmokas" and it'd mean something like "energetic". But it's a pretty outdated word and I haven't used it or heard it used in an actual conversation in like 10 years. In my opinion, when you use words like that you either are a grandpa/grandma or you want to show off or just try to get attention by talking weirdly.

I think that the most important thing for Reunanen would be to be able to have a solid full season with TPS. Still, I don't think that he should refuse a call to WJC-20s, and he would ideally also be good enough to take part in it.

Tarmo Reunanen wants to remain healthy and play on the TPS men's team. Those are his goals. Maybe TPS felt Reunanen needs these games with them more than the WJC team.

Neutral fan, coming in peace. TPS tweeted their lineup for tonight's CHL game, looks like Reunanen will make his pro-level debut. Veteran defensemen Heikkinen and Tikkanen are missing from the lineup, so TPS is letting their young defenders (Keskitalo, Reunanen, Berger, Eronen, Kojo) get some ice time.

Hope he takes this opportunity by the horns and runs with it.

Can player's team or a player himself refuse a National team invite except for a health issue? I think at worse it'd be in bad "taste".

I can confirm Tarmo is healthy. I've seen him on-ice in today's TPS game. No report on how well he has played, as the camera is panned-out so far that it is hard to read the numbers on the players while they are playing. Don't think I'll be watching many more of these European matches.

They should be able to but especially in Finland it's considered a great honor and the Liiga teams support it. For example Puljujärvi, Aho and Laine could play there last season even though they had an important role in contenders. TPS isn't exactly even a contender at this point in time.
