I find it difficult to comprehend why one would go out of their way to say it's "roo-nanen" when it obviously is not. Finnish is a phonetic language and as such, Reunanen is "Reu-na-nen". It's always pronounced exactly as it's written, there are no exceptions.

Proper rolling r, e as in "end", u as in "foot".

Take it up with Gordie Clark.

Saw him at the tournament yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. Finnish Shayne Gostisbehere, that's the comparable who I came up with. He even wears the same number. He has great poise and is useful on the PP. Made couple of good plays defensively with his stick. It's a small sample size but from what I saw, this could be a steal for the Rangers.

I think there's totally a chance for him to be in the WJC.

Yeah, Reunanen's team TPS won the tournament which included six teams from FEL. The final ended 4-2, where TPS was able to win the home team Lukko, who played with their best roster. TPS didn't have their most important players (Tallinder, Tikkanen, Heikkinen, Kallio, Perrin), so it was quite a surprise that TPS managed to win with so young group.

If I think about Reunanen's situation right now, he's fighting for the roster spot against 4-5 other D-men. From TPS's point of view, Tallinder, Tikkanen, Heikkinen and Forrström are pretty much guaranteed to play every single game when they're healthy. So it leaves two spots open, and Reunanen is fighting for those with Keskitalo, Dudas, Kojo, Eronen & Berger. Right now it seems like those two last spots go to two of Eronen, Keskitalo & Reunanen. If Reunanen doesn't manage to get a role from TPS's senior team, he'll be heading to second highest league in Finland (Mestis). He's not going play in juniors anymore.

Reunanen himself has told that he's tried to learn something from former TPS-players such as Petteri Nummelin, Marko Kiprusoff and Saku Koivu. And when I watch him, he reminds me pretty much of Nummelin's passing ability. Similar, high confidence and always head up and calm with the puck, as I said yesterday. From the NHL, Gostisbehere isn't a bad comparable at all.

Is that ex-Rangers great, Ilkka Heikkinen? My how we've come full circle.

That's great to hear about Reunanen. Let's hope he continues to impress.

Oh, I didn't even remember that Heikkinen once played in NY. Right now he should be a TOP3-defender in FEL, but he already hurted himself before season started.

There isn't much video of Reunanen on youtube

This sequence is nice. Tarmo is lined up on his offside for the face-off on the PP for a better shooting angle. He walks to the middle of the ice to create a better shooting angle. Quick movement to the middle of the ice. Creates space. Quick wrist shot. Very nice.

Craig Button likes to put together lists. He had Tarmo Reunanen #13 on his 16 for 2016 list back in November 2014.

13. Tarmo Reunanen
Poised and smart, he may not ‘catch your eye’ with flash but he knows where his options are. He doesn’t panic under pressure and he can make plays that alleviate pressure defensively or apply it offensively.

Reunanen picked up an assist today in a 2-1 TPS preseason loss to Jukurit. http://liiga.fi/ottelut/2016-2017/harjoitusottelut/7766/seuranta/

Glad to see him doing well. I always have a soft spot for skilled draftees who fall due to injuries. I really hope he cements his position on the team.

However, something else in that match caught my eye. In fact, this is completely unbelievable. Mikko Kokkonen is a 15-year-old defenseman. He assisted on the game-winning goal of Jukurit and had 5 shots in just 6 minutes of ice time.

Tarmo Reunanen will be participating in the Four Nations tournament. Finland is looking at more players than the players who played earlier this month in Michigan in preparing for the 2017 WJC.

Three TPS-players of the under-20s national team

TPS Karolus Kaarlehto, Tarmo edges and Teemu Väyrynen are included Jukka Korpi Iron designated by the under-20s national team. Group trips Czech Hodoniin four-nation tournament, which operates as part of the preparation for the under-20s World Cup.

The tournament is a place for players display the final World Cup teams in mind. TPS trio aims to break into the final Cup squad and go to defend the age group world championships.

- It is always an honor to pull Leo-shirt on. International games are really kovavauhtisia and act as a good indicator of the level of your self. One period of my goals is to position the race team, commented TPS attacker Teemu Väyrynen.

Kolme TPS-pelaajaa mukaan alle 20-vuotiaiden maajoukkueeseen
TPS:n Karolus Kaarlehto, Tarmo Reunanen sekä Teemu Väyrynen ovat mukana Jukka Rautakorven nimeämässä alle 20-vuotiaiden maajoukkueessa. Ryhmä matkaa Tshekin Hodoniin neljän maan turnaukseen, joka toimii osana valmistautumista alle 20-vuotiaiden MM-kisoihin.

– On aina kunnia-asia vetää Leijona-paita päälle. Kansainväliset pelit ovat todella kovavauhtisia ja toimivat hyvänä tasomittarina itselle. Yksi kauden tavoitteistani on saada pelipaikka kisajoukkueesta, kommentoi TPS-hyökkääjä Teemu Väyrynen.
