I got back into skating after about 13 years off. I had Bauer 4000's but the holders were cracked so I got a pair of Vapors and I have a couple of questions about the difference and if I should change the pitch, radius etc....

The first thing i noticed is that my stride is shorter in the vapors. Its hard to explain but if I extend my leg fully there is no push at the end of my stride so I was forced to shorten it. Would a forward pitch help this?

I also feel more off balance but this seems to be more since I tried FBV. I may go back to the standard sharpening to see if that makes a difference. Any thoughts on this?

You're in Mass.? Go find a knowledgeable local shop that does profiling and ask there. You'll get better advice than over an internet board.

If anything a change in radius will affect your stride length more than changing the pitch. To put it simply your vapor has a 9ft stock radius, profiling it to a 10ft or a 9/10 radius will give you more blade on the ice for more power and energy transfer in your straight ahead skating.
