With Dubas being a lame duck and with a mediocre at best start to the season, who do the Leafs turn to next should this team not meet expectations?
Is it a complete overhaul with everyone let go? Who replaces Shanny? Who replaces Dubas? Does MLSE tell Shanny to take over or do they gut the front office?

Who are the best candidates to take over and do a “retool on the fly”. I’d love to hear your opinions for:

Keefe is not getting the most out of this roster and it might be time to go after a veteran coach like Barry Trotz? Someone who has won the Cup with talented players and someone who can bring some accountability.

Question for the fire Dubas crowd, who is available that is an upgrade and isn't inexperienced?

At least with the fire Keefe crowd they have Trotz to hold up as the alternative. But say you fire Dubas, who are you bringing in to make franchise altering changes and trading away prime aged star assets? You can't say "ANYONE" because that is a cop out, we all know there are MUCH worse options...

Find someone that always wanted to, but never got the chance, to be a Leaf and is willing to sacrifice their time for 4 or 5 million per year.

I think if we hired Dubas as he was today coming into this team, he would be able to make this team a cup finalist. The issue is, he can't see the forest from the trees at this point. He is blinded by player loyalty and doesn't have an objective opinion on any player on the team. It's why they can be savage with certain players (Vesey, NAK, etc) and others range from special treatment (Simmonds) to outright babying them (Matthews and Marner).

I am waiting for the team to take the next step. They look much better than they did, they are skating and playing hard now which is good. I am waiting for our stars to break out and our depth to find an identity. But as of now, this team isn't as good as last years team and that is concerning.

I personally think this teams needs a top 4 D and a top 6 forward to have a realistic chance at competing unless a random player figures it out and breaks out super hard. Holl can't be in our starting lineup game 1 of playoffs. Robertson isn't a top 6 forward and neither is Kerfoot.

But one thing is clear, Dubas is loyal to a fault and Keefe is not going anywhere. Shanny is giving Dubas the season and he is not going anywhere and who will be deciding our playoff lineup at the TDL. So we might as well support them because this is it. Go Leafs Go figure your shit out and win some rounds!!

i feel sort of bad for dubas, he continues to fight for the core 4, and they always let him down

Swap Matthews and Marner for mcdavid and draisaitl or even Mackinnon and Rantanen and dubas is a genius and a great gm. The last two years teams have been built relatively well for the playoffs, we just haven’t had our superstars perform at their levels, especially when we need them most

swap Tavares' cap hit for a solid 2nd line C and top 4 D and he wouldn't have one foot out the door

Obviously Matthews/Marner is the weakest duo you mentioned. I'd much rather have Rantanen or Draisaitl over Marner- and both make significantly less money, but with the same term.

A big problem is Marner's contract, and Dubas is 100% responsible for it. His over paying players has lead to him not being able to ice a more well rounded and complete roster.
