hey everyone this is my first post on here and I hope many more will come. Grew up in Pittsburgh my whole life and now am a student at Penn State. I've been reading HF Boards for a few years now just to see what my fellow fans were saying and decided to finally join. What i've been noticing is the overwhelming homerism and "jump the ship" mentality of a lot of people on here recently as when i used to read topics the past few years, people just seemed less upset all the time. This team has a few holes in it that need to be addressed at the deadline but I just dont buy into this season as a whole. A lot of teams are playing like crap and this year just seems weird in terms of play and flow. Can't wait to start discussing things with guys and seems like most of you are informed, passionate fans exactly like myself who live and die with the Pens. PS trade for malone, a few big issues would be addressed there me thinks

first of all, welcome to the Pens forum of HFBoards. :handclap::yo::handclap:

secondly, unless the Bolts eat some of Malone's salary, i don't think the Pens should make it a priority to push for him in a trade.

Thanks a lot!

if the bolts said nisky for malone straight up would you pull the trigger? and how many years does malone have on the contract if i recall he signed a 7 year in 2008?

Malone has two more years after this one. Big cap hit of 4.5m but low salary 3 million this year, 2.5m next year and 2.5m the year after.

I'd trade Niskanen for him if they ate a bit of the cap hit.

Thanks Captain Hook i'm glad to be here.

I just feel we need to look at the past a little more. The Malone-Malkin-Sykora line was awesome and basically we have a better Sykora in Neal. I think Malone would also be the presence to both protect Malkin and be a guy in the locker room who cares the most since he missed out on the Cup run. I seen a lot of other proposals for wingers and some i like (Kumi, Clutterbuck, etc.) but Malone is exactly what Malkin needs right now. This year. Tampa would need to take a little salery though, but were off 2 mil if we traded nisky or a package with ManBearPig Kennedy

Agreed. Malone would certainly solidify the Malkin line.

Would you take Malone over Setoguchi if both were available?

Well in terms of cap hit and age, Seto is the better option. But for this year, right now Malone would be the better pickup. We need more guys who are hungry and while Seto is more skilled than malone, players like malone get the garbage goal and hand out the ass kicking you need to beat teams like Jersey or Philly.

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Malone-Malkin-Neal

That solves a lot of problems and we would not have to give up a lot of assets. I feel seto would be more expensive in terms of a trade

I'd want it to be a third.

Welcome aboard.

Don't take this place so seriously, and prosper. There will be highs and lows.

Think of it like Yin & Yank.
