Then trade him. No time to play games with him and his agent. Either he wants to be here on a contract in a similar ballpark to Fiala, Meier, Forsberg, etc, or we move him.

The trade market gets worse as other teams lock in their capspace.

Is Toews done?

He put up decent numbers last year playing almost 18 mpg. His hit numbers went way down, but that could be due to injury/not putting an effort on a tanking team. Won 63% of his faceoffs. Still averaged over a min/game on the pk for the Hawks.

At 35, might have another season in him. Could be a decent replacement for ROR if he signs for close to min.

I was just thinking he would be an excellent final add to the forward group. Could be a mentor for Knies and they could form a responsible third line with Jarnkrok. If Sammy signs for 3m let’s say, and no other changes to the dcore, we squeeze him in at 850k w 2k in cap space. If he sucks he gets sent down and quietly disappears.

Lafferty - Kampf - Reaves

Allows Robertson and Holmberg get up to speed playing top line Marlies (Robertson especially needs game time after injury) and ready for injury replacement. Something like,

Leafs have basically moved on him from him, I believe they are like...1.5-2 Million off. Nylander & group is arguing with raising the cap it'll be fine, Leafs have other plans and disagree.

It's mainly trying to find the right mix of players to get the return/contract worked out.

Teams are being greedy as hell though atm so it's not expedited.

Respectively IMO, too high (10M or above) and too low (if the range is closer to 8M). I slightly tend to side with Treliving and the team in this case though as I'd like to see an AAV that tops out at 9 or somewhere just below that threshold. I'd also be fine with a contract that doesn't quite involve the maximum term (7 years).

I think Treliving needs to stand firm here. Something around a 9 million AAV and go shorter term if necessary.

$10M is fair if Matthews is getting $15M. But that's overpaying for both of them. I'd say $9M x 8 years is fair

I was about to say Matthews can do something if he asked for 15M but instead I will just say, he opens with 15M and I ask him when he wants the cab to drive him to the airport because that isn't happening.
