With Kerfoot and Domi, Domi just seems so much more effective than me. He's fast. He forechecks. He has the threat of a shot on the PP. He takes the puck to the net.

All of the things that Kerfoot does not do. Kerfoot is better defensively for sure but I'll make that trade off.

Domi is not great on the forecheck. In fact he may be a downgrade on Kerfoot in that regard, which is saying something.

I think people have a warped sense of what Domi is. He’s a lazy, fly-by kind of player with good offensive instincts and a peskiness to his game that sometimes comes across as physical.

For context

Yep. I like Domi because he's actually good offensively, which is what we needed. If people expect an Acciari level of hitter just because of his name... they are in for a rough awakening.

It's kinda like when Nick Ritchie was signed, people thought he'd destroy people with hits.

Domi dont play a physical game, hes playing with tenacity and thats why im not agree with you on forechecking. Just by his tenacity, he can bring more thing on forecheck than kerfoot by winning more 1v1 battle.

But i watched him a lot during his time in montreal, its kind of player who can completly disappear on regular season at time . Its kind of player who will like when hes playing hard and really hate when he will take a lot of night off

Haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere… did the leafs sign Dylan Gambrell?

He doesn’t forecheck effectively or often. He doesn’t play with much tenacity.

Yeah the physical-ness in his game isn't grind-y workmanship. Unless he completely re-invents himself he's not going to be the "Hyman" on his line. Closer to a Nylander that morphs into a timebomb between the whistles and has zero problems with jumping people. Decent chances he gets suspended for a sucker punch / instigator now that he's a leaf.

As a hockey fan I hate the way he goes about things and think it's completely gutless. As a Leaf fan I think it might be just the thing to get people off of Matthews back. A code following tough guy isn't a personal threat to a Tkachuk/Chiarot, not going to be on the ice at the same time, and even then- they'll just decline, and take the facewash/shame. A Domi will be on the ice with them, and will not give them a chance to say no (or even to see the first punch coming).

Neither Domi nor Bertuzzi are physical players unless we count Bertuzzi's ability to play inside around the net.

Neither Domi nor Bertuzzi have ever killed penalties and I believe they're both considered erratic defensive players.

Domi is an offensive player with some serious untapped potential in that area. He's a playmaker before anything imo. He's a playmaker with a nuclear temper. Keep an eye out for that. He could get Kadri'd by a savvy opponent in our next playoffs.

Bertuzzi seems like a poor man's Ryan Smyth or Jason Zucker taking tons of abuse around the net to finish.

That's weird. I'm looking at the Leafs roster page on NHL.com and it does have Gambrell on the roster lol

I think it might be a mistake

Gambrell makes sense for a depth center. He's alright in that aspect. Probably clears waivers as well.

Im meh on Dumba now tbh. Would rather get bigger on defense if possible first. Dumbas offensive game has really fallen off.

Ya Dumba would be Gardiner 2.0 here. Might make some sense on a real cheap 1 year deal, but the Leafs would be setting themselves up to play radically different and offense only. Probably not a recipe for success.

Yep the 4 additions are not defensive wizards at all but at least Bertuzzi and Domi will fight for ice space, go to the net and not back down like many of the players currently do.

The lineup is getting interesting to map out. As others have mentioned we're short on pker's, and it's also getting tough to have a "shutdown" line. Between Reaves on the 4th and a LW of Knies (rookie) Bert and Domi (not really strong D) the pieces don't fit super well.

One thing that does work is a three line team. I've brought it up a bunch this season, but we definitely have the horses now. Wave after wave of attack.

Domi-Matthews-Jarncrok - AM likes playing with Calle, steady board game and defence with a good shot, Domi as playmaker and enforcer

Knies-Tavares- Marner - Marner distributing to two guys that like to play in tight to the net and can finish, Tavares gets a cycle partner

Bertuzzi-Holmberg-Nylander - matchup nightmare cutting other teams depth to ribbons.

Lafferty-Kampf- Reaves - old school Team Canada at the WJC's "stampeding elephants". Lafferty brings the speed, Reaves brings the thunder, Kampf keeps them from getting slaughtered defensively.

Gambrell is probably getting some league minimum contract from some NHL organization to reclaim his NHL career probably in the AHL. He's probably a PPG in the AHL. It's possible that he signed with the Leafs.

I think now we need a two way center that can play on the third line. Someone to replace Ryan O'Reilly. Scott Laughton would be idea, but other moves need to happen first. Any other names?.

With Klingberg, I got no interest in Dumba. We need someone with size, physicality and who can actually play defence.

Rielly - Zadorov
McCabe - Klingberg
Brodie - Liljegren
#7 Giordano

Zadorov can play either side and has a sneaky good shot from the point. Address’ multiple needs back there.
