New GM Trades and Signings Part 2

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I’d be fine with Bertuzzi on a tame deal but will likely get overpaid as one of the only good UFA’s this year. If its more than 5 years his deal would already turn me off.

Wouldnt hate Comtois but he is more likely to be another Ritchie than blossum IMO.

Domi is my ideal target as I can see him taking a cheap-ish 1 year deal to try and put up big numbers in our top 6 before cashing in next year.

Domi can also play 3C

Ive definitely been soured on the leafs lately and crave some changes but some of the hot takes/hate/vitriol/hindsighting in here are pushing me into a more optimistic frame of mind and have tempered my emotions. The amount of knee jerk responses has woken a more balanced view in me. Thanks haters.

FA market is gonna be 10x worse the next 2 years. Everyone signing 1-2 year deals knowing the cap is going up so a lot of people are gonna get overpaid. I'd rather give Bertuzzi 5x5 or 5x6 now who can get you 20-30 goals and 50-60 points and possibly even more on a good team over some bum in 1-2 years.

I wouldn't mind Bertuzzi or Domi either. These are not perfect fits, but they fill a need. And that need is filling out a roster with secondary scoring. Because right now we have no secondary scoring. They wouldn't be my first choices... but the reality is we're in a corner, and doing something is better then nothing.
 
Seems like tre doesn’t have any certainty about AM or WN. These 1 year deals won’t complicate those signings and actually lets him get something done this off-season. Not great, but better than nothing.
