That’d be quite risky to just put all our eggs in the Woll basket at this moment.
It would be risky, but the cap space can be used on fixing the defence.

You gotta take risks to win the cup. Gambling on a great goalie signed to league minimum is the kind of risk I'd take to improve the team elsewhere.

Vegas showed you can win with cheap goalies. Now if only this team would show even half the effort the Vegas players do, they might actually get somewhere

Not only should he not have, but that's also different from your initial claim that he was.
My claim was he lost the net. I was not incorrect.

Woll provided better goaltending and should've been put in far sooner

I’m curious. Understanding Rielly is going nowhere and we literally just signed Klingberg, what/who would you move/target on the backend?

Dubas really made this a hard job for treliving

Yup but any GM worth their weight, will figure this out pretty quickly. I don't expect him to fix the team in 5 weeks, I do expect him to fix this team by October.

I wish the Leafs had taken a chance on Daniel Sprong. Would have given me a reason to tune in and would have been a goal scoring thread on the third line. But he was signed by the Red Wings.

It's true. Look what 25 games did for Luke Schenn.
You would think they would be breaking down the door to sign short term deals like the way Bunting did. There is NO WAY on this earth that Bunting gets 4.5M if he played in Arizona for the last 2yrs...not a chance. Look at Engvall....7yrs at $3M and Soupy last year in Vancouver. The list goes on but for some reason these players are being short sited. We build up everyone to be hockey Gods here and the media hardly criticizes anyone....I don't get why we are not turning people away let alone chase them to sign here.

It is not worth it.. dont take the bait lol

I agree run with woll and a vet or murray if you cant move him

This coming season i would almost bet it would be worth it to make it political.. this is what we get with our 4 horsemen

Well it's too late now but I would've kept Schenn around as Rielly's partner, especially at his cap hit. I don't mind Klingberg but he's not the right type of player an already soft team needs.

Erik Johnson would've been a nice addition, but at this point he's worse than Schenn and got paid more.

If you wanna go big game hunting I'd offer Marner for Rasmus Anderson or Nylander for Pesce. Both top pairing RD that'd help fix this mess

If we could just somehow dump him off, we would be able to do a lot of things. Need to add draft picks (how i have no idea) over the next two seasons, and then go again.

The problem with having stars and scrubs, is stars are hard to trade and no one wants to trade for your scrubs. They will just wait until we walk them to UFA status.

Well, my main beef with Tavares is he plays like a scrub and puts up really good numbers, is the biggest mercenary misfire in franchise history, but we have to accommodate him like the King of Toronto.

The Big 4 model doesn't necessarily work but more specifically it's JT that doesn't provide value. Urgh.

I don’t understand why Treliving didn’t bring back Aciari. He was a good fit here and he’s easily worth the 2 x 3 deal he got.
Acciari was good but he seemed to stand out so much just because the rest of the team doesn't play like him. There are lots of guys who can play a similar game for less money. If it was a 3yr 1.5M or 2x2M deal I would have done it...but he really was a unicorn and I think Tree wants to have more than one this time around...so he was nothing special to MLSE.

Murray can be the backup in the AHL but otherwise I agree with ya there. Unfortunately Jones is the only capable 1B left on the market. I would've loved Reimer back at the contract he got in Detroit.

Trade Samsonov's rights for whatever you can get and move on

Schenn won 2x Stanley Cups in Tampa and was still on minimum wage. He forms a great pairing with Hughes and is still on minimum wage. He has a couple of good months and a fight with Tanner Jeannot and trash talks on the bench on HNIC and he's secured his family nearly $9 million. That's the power of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Yes, I would love to add Max Domi on a 2 year, affordable deal. Give him some stability, bring him back to the GTA and let him flourish.

Because this is a nonsense storyline that no one cares about but the media. He played 10 minutes a night in half Tampa’s games. That’s why he was paid league min. In Vancouver, and then Toronto, he found a niche playing 17+ minutes a night. That’s why we traded for him and that’s why he’s getting paid now.

Ok but if you want several guys like Acciari, a good start would be to...sign Acciari.

$2m is quite reasonable for him.

Didn't want Jack and don't really care he signed but could they have chosen a worse picture LOL he looks like the damn Michelin Man

Lmao. I probably wouldn't have noticed if you didn't say anything, but now it's all I can see. That's such a weird picture. Looks like he's wearing goalie equipment.

Our center position is looking very suspect especially if you think Tavares is really starting to slow down.

Kampf is a good defensive C and I don't mind the re-signing but he shouldn't be put in any type of offensive role and we still don't know what Holmberg really is.

We'd be smart to inject some skill and speed at that position.
Max Domi would be great

With Phillips (No. 49) off the board, only 18 of @DailyFaceoff’s Top 75 UFAs remain:

9. Tarasenko
15. Domi
16. P. Kane
23. Dumba
35. Comtois
36. Tatar
50. Toews
52. Sundqvist
54. Yamamoto
58. Gurianov
59. P. Suter
61. Gregor
62. Halak
66. Nosek
69. MacEwen
70. Malgin
74. Stastny
75. Kessel
Domi
MacEwen
Comtois

Seem like interesting depth optionsm

More specifically, your claim was that the goaltending was a disaster. Then when someone pointed out that Sammy had overall quite good numbers, you pivoted to this nonsense. Are you trolling or are you just not particularly bright?

Hurricanes make it to conference final and this off season have already added Orlov and Bunting and seemingly are the front runners for Karlsson. Must be nice.

I am not trying to be rude but you are completely off your rocker and have no idea what you are talking about.
They didn’t have Dubas destroying them for the last 5 years with a butter soft grossly over paid core

Murray was a disaster.

Samsonov had a good regular season but who cares? He was good in half the playoff games. That's not a goalie I want to hitch my wagon to.

Kallgren was also a disaster. We were lucky he got hurt too, giving Woll a chance nobody wanted to give otherwise
