Not sure if this was stated but:

Erik Kallgren to the Devils
Mac Hollowell to the Rangers
Marc Johnstone to the Penguins
Radim Zahorna to the Penguins
Noel Hoefenmeyer to the Oilers
Good for all of them. I really did not think much of Johnstone or Hoefenmayer. Zahorna is slow. Hollowell is a quality AHL defenseman. Kallgren appears to be a decent goalie yet empirically gives up an extra goal per game.

hypothetically can we move Klingberg @50% ++ for Karlsson with retention, even though we just signed him ?

I don’t understand why Treliving didn’t bring back Aciari. He was a good fit here and he’s easily worth the 2 x 3 deal he got.

I think there's a chance that Domi would take a bit less to play here for emotional reasons and to raise his profile before his next UFA contract. It's worked for almost every player that has left Toronto to sign a UFA contract elsewhere.

Maybe that’s been the problem? We bring in mercenaries every year and none of them are truly invested in this team.

Maybe it’d be good to bring in a guy like Bertuzzi for 5+ years who can become a significant complimentary player for us and show his personality a bit to take the spotlight away from the core 4.

I think that’s a part of what Treliving was talking about yesterday with Reaves bringing noise and the need for characters on the team. Guys like Tucker and Domi, for example, were beloved in Toronto and took the spotlight away from some of our star players. Part of becoming an actual team rather than 4-5 guys and a bunch of nameless grey faces.

True but it didn't seem to matter for the Marner and Matthews contracts the majority of which are 4 X RFA years and then CH% is all that counted. :wg:

However despite the Leafs team having more control, wouldn't Samsonov's agent be using Sammy's SV% & GA/G and Goals saved above expected in his contract talks also and show how that compares against the goalie market overall?

View attachment 725346

If Sammy posted the 10th best Goals Saved above expected in the entire NHL last year isn't that leverage for him in current contract talks regardless of status?

So an unrestricted free agent with far worse stats is entitled to far greater pay simply because he is unrestricted and its what the market will pay?

NYI just re-signed RFA Ilya Sorokin to a new contract for $8.25 mil X 8 and his stats are similar to Sammy. :)

Should Sammy use that instead comparing RFA to RFA and similar ages, same first names, with similar Wins, SV% and GA/G?.

If Sammy takes the Leafs to arbitration then won't those #'s come into play for the 3rd party judge to decide his next salary so its not like he doesn't have rights as an RFA?

PS. I would imagine that keeping Murray and not overspending in UFA season must be in part connected to Samsonov's next contract uncertainty.
Now you’re comparing Marner and Matthews situation as RFA’s to Samsonov ?

I'm sure Treliving tried bringing back Schenn and ROR for sure, maybe Acciari too.

ROR and Acciari probably didn't want to return and Schenn's price was too rich for the Leafs.
Why would they want to Stay with this butter soft core that refuses to to stand up for each other or even themselves when the going gets tough……no pushback then pressers where they accept zero responsibility

It's true. Look what 25 games did for Luke Schenn.

Schenn won 2x Stanley Cups in Tampa and was still on minimum wage. He forms a great pairing with Hughes and is still on minimum wage. He has a couple of good months and a fight with Tanner Jeannot and trash talks on the bench on HNIC and he's secured his family nearly $9 million. That's the power of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Yes, I would love to add Max Domi on a 2 year, affordable deal. Give him some stability, bring him back to the GTA and let him flourish.
