Teams can go over the cap during the offseason. They have plenty of time to move out some pieces if that trade happens.

Like others have mentioned in here as well, I imagine we'll see a flurry of Marlies/AHL signings soon. Similar to Mete/Dahlstrom in previous years. The Marlies will get an injection of prospects to the forward lineup this year but the team can still use 1-2 AHL style vets with call-up potential up front.

I don't think he is really a center, and while it is fine for who he is, I do not think it is the kind of guy we really need. We need to start trusting our forward prospects to be as good as a guy like him, and we need to focus our money on areas where we do not have prospects ready to step in.

Jarry has more of a history but is not a good signing. He is not a comparable for a contract.

The rest of Pittsburgh's moves I'd prefer for sure.

Yep that's a miss. Rodrigues fits in very well with Florida. The only issue with Rodrigues is that he's a right handed shot, and we're loaded with RH wingers.

Doesn't seem like a big deal maybe, but the only LH shots we have upfront for wingers is Knies, Robertson and McMann.

I don't think it matters all that much anyway since like you said, we have balance with the centers shooting left. But it shows how we really need to bolster our LWers.

Easy solution for Samsonov is taking him to arbitration this year to get a low cap hit, think max he can make is 2.1m or around there.

Here are the forwards I'd be looking at:

• Max Domi | Aggressive, fiesty forward who just came off a 56 point season.
• Mason Shaw | Tenacious hardworking forward who can skate. Competitive for his size.
• Max Comtois | Bigger guy who can skate, good reclamation project.
• Pius Suter | A versatile guy can skate. Was good with AM34 in Switzerland.
• Zach Sanford | Big 6"4 frame who plays a heavy game, Obviously, needs to bounce back, but if doesn't he can be buried to give the Marlies AHL depth.
• Andreas Johnsson | Competitive guy who skates well. If he can bounce back you've got a top 9 forward, if not a top 6 ahler.

I'd sign Max Domi + 1 of Shaw/Comtois/Suter + 1 of the reclamation projects that can be buried.
