I have no issue with Reaves, or bringing him in. He should be fun to watch. It won’t matter at all, depending on the other business we do. This signing should be inconsequential in the grand scheme, if we do the right things to build the roster.
Hoping we add some jam to the top/middle 6.
That is such a bad bottom 6 oh my lordKnies ------ Matthews ---- Nylander
XXXX ----- Tavares ------ Marner
Jarnkrok --- Kampf ------- XXXX
Reaves --- Holmberg ---- Lafferty
You don't think there's a benefit to being able to reduce cap hit by sending a no longer useful player to the minors? Why are people obsessed with a buriable contract?
With the Ryan Reaves deal, I really don't see anything else to get excited about from a Leaf standpoint
It's never about any one player, but if you overpay on most of your team irrespective of role you eventually burn up cap space.
Those last 2 XXX better be impactful players, that bottom 6 right now looks like 0 goal scoring.Knies ------ Matthews ---- Nylander
XXXX ----- Tavares ------ Marner
Jarnkrok --- Kampf ------- XXXX
Reaves --- Holmberg ---- Lafferty
Or maybe he just likes the beach.1 year @2.25. Good contract for the Panthers. Must be nice to have a winning culture where players are willing to sign for cheap.
Really wanted Acciari back and Schenn
To me they should have been priority of Kampf
I get it, Kampf is a Center. But Acciari brought so much more
Was the leading hitter in playoffs for the games he played
With the Ryan Reaves deal, I really don't see anything else to get excited about from a Leaf standpoint
Sure, but you should aim to save everywhere because it adds up.I’d much, much rather overpay Matthews or Nylander or Marner by $1.3 million than give that money to old as f*** Reaves.
Does it matter? This isn't a contender, not even close. If true we just lost a million in cap between the Reaves and Kampf overpayment
The problem was Babcock even stopped playing him.Losing Martin is one of the underrated mistakes of this era of Leafs. Guy was loved by the room and a warrior who was more than willing to stick up for his teammates, and he could actually play unlike old man Simmonds and Clifford.
I don’t agree that we weren’t close. A smart GM definitely could have made smart moves to make us a serious contender.Does it matter? This isn't a contender, not even close.
