Blue Jays Discussion: Vladdy has signed 14 yr/500mil

There's something else going on other than just the bats with the Yankees....not sure what
It's a mix of things.

For guys like Jazz and Bellinger, their swings and the configuration of Yankee Stadium are basically a match made in heaven. (Reminder that Jazz was also really, really good for the Yankees since they traded for him)

In tonight's case, Merill Kelly just sucked absolute ass. For example, on the AB where Jazz put the Yanks up 9-3 he served up a nice meatball that Jazz pulled foul. Kelly responded by doing the exact same thing again, this time Jazz took it 387.

Could also be the ball is juiced too. I've seen a couple people on social media make that accusation and it wouldn't shock me given the ball seems to be flying regardless of the park.

I'm sure the bats make a difference depending on the guy too, but i still don't think it's some gamechanger.

I almost forgot, but the rest of the minor league teams start tomorrow. Looks like Yesavage is starting with Dunedin. I thought he might make the jump to Vancouver right away.

EDIT: Just checking a few players and it looks like Kendry Rojas is injured to start the year. Hopefully, not serious. He pitched a lot last year, so maybe just watching innings?

Ryan Yarbrough in his Yankees Debut: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 4 ER, 2 BB
That's completely unfair! He threw a scoreless inning earlier, so he's now only allowed 4 runs in 1.2 IP.

Way, way, way too early to draw any kind of conclusions about anything, but considering how Lucas looked in his first outing, it's a good start for the depth pitching decisions. Still not a fan of rostering Lovelady, but at least they moved quickly to Fluharty.

I never cared for Yarbrough just for how he pitches.

A guy who relies on softer, more movement based pitches usually needs to have pinpoint control for that to work in today's MLB. He generally doesn't.

I don't like those type of pitchers outside of a guy like Hyun-Jin Ryu, who i am honestly still kinda baffled on how he had such a solid MLB tenure in the middle of the three true outcomes era. Wizard.

He had many things. Sasaki to the Dodgers first and recently the Marte extension and the Profar suspension. Has great sources with Latin American players. Id say it is as good as done. Blair also reported Vlad's agents were in Toronto all week (they could still be here in Toronto) and they met with ownership. It is moving towards a deal.

Heyman also reported this in the morning;

If this has legs, i wonder if Vladdy spooked himself with the pretty meh start.

He certainly hasn't been awful to start the year, but he also hasn't been 600+ million good or whatever demand he initially made.

Sign the deal, and have the huge weight lifted off his shoulders allowing him to concentrate on baseball again.

Lots of early season long-term extensions from star players. Hope Vladdy is added to the list in short order here.
