Dynamo Moscow has officially informed the Kontinental Hockey League of its intention to stage its home games in the 2015-16 KHL Championship at Moscow’s new arena, the VTB Ice Palace. The state-of-the-art stadium will undergo an inspection in the very near future to confirm that it meets all the requirements set down for participation in the KHL, after which the famous Blue-and-Whites can face their opponents on the ice of the League’s most modern arena, cheered on by an army of 12,000 fans in the stands.

For the KHL, the addition of another new and spacious venue creates the prospect of another record-breaking season for attendance at matches. Last season’s average audience reached a new height, breaking the 6,500 barrier, and the opening of the VTB Ice Palace is a significant step toward surpassing that figure. Naturally, hockey fans must trust Dynamo’s players to keep playing the kind of hockey that is sure to leave very few empty seats in the club’s impressive new home.

Finally, an important reminder for any fans fortunate enough to find themselves in the Russian capital from the 6th to the 9th of August. You can treat yourself to an early taste of the atmosphere at the VTB Ice Palace when the arena hosts the new Arkady Chernyshev preseason tournament, contested by Dynamo Moscow, Dinamo Minsk, Spartak and Amur.

What attendance do you guys predict for Barys in the new season ?

I don't expect a lot of sold out games, but 7-8k average seems like a safe bet. Will depend a lot on results as well.

Also, it looks like seats are being installed indoors...

...there is still a long ways to go, but I am optimistic that the Arena will be done in time for the season's opener. :)

Considering that Barys president has stated recently that the 1st friendly game is scheduled on the 1st August, I certainly hope it will be.

I am wondering though... will they paint them additionally, to be more light blue / teal in color?

How would you go about painting upholstered seats with over half them already installed loppa?
Youd be ordering them in whatever color you wanted directly from the manufacturer & thats it...

No clue, really. The artist rendition shows much lighter seats, a sort of teal color.

I ran into this today... http://www.iihfworlds2016.com/en/news/ready-for-action/ ...and there are some words about arenas on there.

time doesn’t stand still and in a few years there will be new, even more modern arenas.”

Dynamo’s move to the new venue frees up the Blue-and-Whites’ old Luzhniki home, which is expected to be adopted by the reborn Spartak Moscow team in the coming season. It also spells the end for plans to bring the hockey team into the planned ‘Dynamo Park’ complex currently under development on the site of Dynamo’s historic football stadium. Meanwhile, CSKA Moscow is also forging ahead with plans to build a purpose-built hockey venue of its own at Krylatskoye, to the north-west of the city close to the rowing and cycling venues from the 1980 Olympics.

^ why on earth would they abandon plans to eventually move into the new Dynamo Park?

They didn't. It's just "journalism".

What about CSKA arena plans? Is there any merit to that, or is that just regurgitating previous ideas from the past?

edit/add:
It is nice that Luzniki is Spartak's new arena. Hm, what happened to their old one - Sokolniki Arena ?
