Seriously so awesome.

Make sure to change the settings in app to "high" instead of "standard" if you want to download them in HD.

I am so happy about this. I have purchased quite a few movies and TV series off of iTunes because I have wanted to watch some stuff on the go. This will definitely save me some money.

It fits in your car or on a plane? Awesome!

Agreed, I'm glad I got a tablet. I usually rent movies off the Google Play store when I go on trips. That way I dont have to use my credit card to watch movies on a '10 monitor on the seat in front of me. I can watch what I want which is even better.

It's all depending on the licenses and what those studios think. A much larger selection is available for download than I expected right off the start and it's just going to grow.

Watching a movie on my tablet? No thanks.

65 inch TV for me, thanks.

How many airplane seats do you have to buy for yourself, your TV, and your 120VAC generator? How do you convince them to let you carry on your 65" TV? Is your generator gas powered? If so, how do you convince security to let you carry on the gasoline? Or are you sitting there pedaling away on a kinetic energy generator the whole time?

Doesn't that mean that people could sign up for Netflix, download the entire catalogue, and then cancel, though?

No, you still view the movies through their app (including all the DRM built-into the app). Amazon Prime Video and a number of others streaming video/music apps offer similar services. I'd expect a number of limitations similar to those apps (max quantity of files downloaded at once, limited periods for offline viewing, etc).

I imagine said device would never be allowed to connect to the internet again though otherwise it would detect a lack of subscription and make them unacessable. Netflix probably did the math and figured the amount they'd lose from that scenario is less than the amount they would gain from new customers who sign up for the feature.

Spotify premium has the same type of deal and it works pretty well for them.

Only 3 seats, it's not too bad.

No, as mentioned it's in the app.

Also, I'm pretty sure downloads only remain for 30 days and once you begin watching it, you have 48 hours to finish it. At least that's what I read, haven't tested out anything other than the quality yet (which is great...downloads are also quick to download the HD version. An HD movie at two hours downloaded on my mom's older tablet in about 20-30 seconds).

hopefully the studios have the greenlight to make most of the shows avaliable for offline use.

Once the download is on the tablet can it then be cast to the tv via Chromecast?

I don't think so (or at least not without streaming it again).

From how I understand it, Chromecast isn't just relaying tablet contents to the tv, it's streaming it separately, and the tablet/phone is just being used as a remote.

Someone else may understand better though.

I checked this morning, and some of my kids favourite shows are available for download, so this will be a lifesaver when we're out and need to keep them occupied. I burn through so much data when I have to stream YouTube for them.

And parents of young children who drive on many annual road trips...REJOICE! :handclap::handclap::yo::yo::hockey::hockey:
I never understood this. Kids need to learn to behave on a long trip, like we did as kids. Giving into this BS is just masking the real issue which will surely come back to bite them in the ass later on in life.
