Confirmed with Link: Ducks sign Nikita Nesterenko to extension (2 years, $787.5k AAV)

I like Nesterenko and hope he can carve out a nice bottom-6 role. He works hard, especially on the forecheck. He doesn't really provide much defense or toughness down there, but I think he can help out in providing secondary offense.
I think he’s a pretty decent Bonino-esque puck hound in the offensive zone. He seems to get a lot of turnovers near the blue line that he turns into scoring opportunities. If he had a better shot, he’d be pretty dangerous.

Cheap depth. He has shown enough in my mind to be given a shot on the fourth line. He certainly contributed more energy than Leason. If he doesn't work out the contract can be buried in San Diego and will have no impact on the Ducks Cap number.

Posted this on the mains:

Klingberg --> Nesterenko and a 4th (and Sustr)
MN 4th --> Lyubushkin --> Tor 3rd
Tor 3rd + Terrance --> Kreider + Ana 4th

Total is Klingberg + Terrance --> Kreider, Nesterenko, 4th

It's nothing franchise altering, but it's still a nice little bit of maneuvering by Verbeek.
Considering the 4th was the Ducks own pick, you could just make it that they parlayed Klingberg after signing him, Terrance and Vakanainen into Kreider, Trouba and Nesterenko. It’s pretty nice work.

At that price it does not matter whether he stays up or not.
What the term does suggest, is that he is expected to make the team as a 4th liner. Giving us insight to a piece of our line puzzle.

It doesn't necessarily mean he's penciled in. They could have just given him 2 years and one way to make it easier to get him through waivers.

Although if you start going back into the acquisition of Vaaks as a throw in part of the Lindholm deal and then the packaging of a pick from that deal with the pick we got for Henrique to get Solberg, and we got Henrique for Vats and my head is starting to hurt so screw it.

Didn't Terrance come from the Draft pick from Manson trade ? So Manson = Helleson + Terrance which becomes part of how they got Kreider. Manson trade looking like one of the best trades of Verbeek. I like it much more than the Lindholm and Rakell trades.

As for Nesterenko. Good value for a 4th line forward. Small chance he becomes Noesen 2.0
