At the trade deadline? What are some examples?

Maybe some are out there, but it's usually in the offseason such as with Matthew Tkachuk or Damon Severson.

I do agree with the 7 vs 8 year terms. But yes, that does not apply to Evans.

At the end of the day, the sign/trade doesn't really increase the value for someone like Evans. It just makes it easier for the acquiring team to give up the asking price because they know they have a good shot at extending the player and it fills a hole they have.

Do the Habs even trade Evans? Doubt it. If we continue to play like we have been since late November, we will remain in the heat of the playoff race. Over the last 20-25 games, the Habs are a top 5 team. Just nuts! We keep waiting for them to slide but they continue to be resilient and Evans is a big part of it.

I left it alone last time saying I'm open to revisiting it and you double down with a petty childish trollish take rather than answer my question. The issues he had last year were fundamental issues. Those get fixed over time and developing properly. They did the best thing with him this season. If he was ready, they wouldn’t have spent money during the off-season.

Let him marinate and give him some games late this season, to see where he’s at. When he’s able to play important NHL minutes consistently, he’ll stay in the NHL. That doesn’t mean minutes with major protection and struggling either.

The worst part about these kids complaining is, in the grand scheme of things, it’s such a small time frame, but the good that comes from it, will last a decade. Ask Edvinsson and Clarke about their extra AHL time last year. Guarantee they say it’s contributed to their success this year. Edvinsson plays 20+ minutes a night with no protection at all, and is well on his way to being something special.

The NHL just isn’t a developmental league. When these kids play too early, rarely does their game ever round out. They end up always having issues (mostly) defensively. It’s 50-80 games of extra development in someone like Nemec’s case. He’ll be much better for it though.

Dickinson would run into a similar issue as Nemec is having right now.

Devils will have Siegenthaler under contract three more years after this one. Long term deal for Luke Hughes and Silayev.

Yes I think it's close but only if we had to trade him...To me that is the type of trade NJ should make if they were to trade him....

Yes because we are set at LHD and our prospect pool is deep at that position...Imo NJ is not going to trade him unless they are forced into it...

That is the correct time for the discussion. I'd be pretty surprised if Kovacevic sticks around after the season he is having at just the right time.

It has nothing to do with his nationality. Nemec is a very good prospect and he would fit perfectly to MTL structure, he would be amazing with Guhle.
They are totally different personalities, Nemec is an introvert. He was working very hard since his draft to improve his defensive play and did make huge progress. More time in AHL will not hurt him, but it is totally understandable that he is not happy- playing for bad team, getting paid just fraction of your salary. He just needed time to digest it.
Nemec was talking about next season. If he starts in AHL agian, managment obviously have little faith in him and it is natural that he would request a trade and play somewhere else. It is not controversial at all.
