Speculation: Nemec not happy with the Devils?

Habs can't do that. But what I will do is bookmark this if Nemec gets traded and what the return is. Like I said before, our pitch is Evans with extension and one of our 1st (10-16 range).... with a B+ type prospect as the 3rd piece. That's the best we can offer IMO. If the Devils are after something different, that is OK.. Habs can't go any deeper.

Nemec does not have #2OA value anymore. More like 5-10 range pick value IMO.

Can you avoid the "cry" narrative and just have a respectful conversation? Its not that hard
"with extension" is not something that meaningfully increases value on pending UFAs rentals. In fact, it's not something you even want on a piece like Evans. You don't pay for insurance on guys like Evans. It MAYBE, RARELY comes into play on a top of the line piece who you're signing an 8 year contract, and even then it does not add that much.

Adding extra term onto Evans makes him LESS appealing tbh. If he then gets hurt, or regresses, or does not fit within the system, NJD is then stuck with him with no flexibility (in a VERY nice UFA center class)

Evans is simply not a piece NJD needs to move Nemec to get. He's a piece/role NJD uses Day 2 pick(s) to acquire.

It is.

MTL 1st 2025, Evans, Tuch
vs
Nemec

Evans is valued between 2nd round pick & late 1st.
So it is really close to the value given by the wild for Jiricek, if not better.

Agreed. And Nemec does not have #2OA value at this stage. Some other fans have devalued it too much and I personally would say he has 5-10 range value. His value has slipped but not to the level some other fans are saying after his lates comment that was taken out of context.

A 10-15 range pick, A 3C solution, and a B+ prospect is fair value IMO. But that doesn't mean the Devils should make the move. It just means we feel we are offering fair value. However, if someone says he still has #2OA value, they are reaching.

That’s just your opinion. Just about every Devils fan disagrees but even if it were true it would make more sense to let him cook and improve than to sell him off for lesser value than the asset that is a recent 2nd overall pick.

There’s no pressure on the Devils to move him. He’s a 20 year old. He’ll get over not making the team this season as he grows older and matures.

We’ll consider overpayment offers only.

I think what’s pretty shocking is that there hasn’t been any injuries on defense so far. I thought he would have already been called up by now.

Yes, it's my opinion, which is what we do on these boards. You don't have to accept the offer and I'm OK with it. I'm not expecting the Devils to bow down. You take my offer and compare it to other fans and take the best one you see fit. Or keep him. That is your prerogative.

I will counter with the same context... That is just your opinion and I know other fans (including Devils fans) think it's a fair offer. It was posted last week where you said you would pass but others felt it was a very solid offer. Like I said in the post you replied too... I will bookmark this and if Nemec is traded, we can revisit my offer and how fair or unfair it is. I find it fun to compare after the fact. And yes, I know... he might not be traded.

Yeah but i thinks it’s either that or Dickinson if we are making a realistic proposal.
i have trouble to see, what san jose could offer for nemec?

the devils drafted silayev over dickinson in last year's draft and the 2026 1st is nothing, which helps them to be competitive this, next and most likely the season after. from the current roster the interesting pieces like celebrini, smith and askarov are off the table and the rest does either not fit a need (ecklund) or the timeline of mulitple seasons.

you can bookmark all you want. i never said nemec value is slafkovsky. i said MY list of targets of montreal players and prospects starts and ends with slafkovsky. the other pieces including suzuki, caufield, demidov and hutson don't interest ME for various reasons regardless if montreal or you would consider trading them.

I'd be interested in him, but can't really think of a realistic return that would interest the Devils.

His current FMV isn't worth giving up just hanging on to him and seeing things turn around from the Devils PoV.

Crap offers after crap offers.. Nemec will be with the Devils this season or the next and Fitz will have stolen another good player from another team with a 3rd or 4th round pick.

NJ isn’t trading Nemec absent an obvious overpay. In thr real world what team values pieces and parts for a good player or project absent being forced to make a trade where a player has the ability to leave as a UFA or maybe not sign an ELC coming out of college? A toxic situation like Jiricek is very rare and even then the past little bit shows Nemec putting up big scoring numbers in the AHL and looking like thr player he is supposed to be after overcoming what was obviously a bad shoulder injury. NJ will make room for him next season. One of Hamilton or Kovacevic will move on. My guess is Kovacevic leaves as a UFA.
In the real world teams rarely ever over pay.
