Speculation: Nemec not happy with the Devils?

NJ isn’t trading Nemec absent an obvious overpay. In thr real world what team values pieces and parts for a good player or project absent being forced to make a trade where a player has the ability to leave as a UFA or maybe not sign an ELC coming out of college? A toxic situation like Jiricek is very rare and even then the past little bit shows Nemec putting up big scoring numbers in the AHL and looking like thr player he is supposed to be after overcoming what was obviously a bad shoulder injury. NJ will make room for him next season. One of Hamilton or Kovacevic will move on. My guess is Kovacevic leaves as a UFA.

LOL respectfully disagree as the rangers alone would crush that package with something like Perreault, 1st, Laff. Nemec isnt even close to as valued as you guys believe
What value does Laf have? I'm not saying he has bad value, but how good? Signed for big money and has been underperforming big time since signing that deal. The previous excuses don't apply - he is now on the first line with Trochek and Panarin, and seeing first line minutes with power play time. And the Rangers have been playing much better lately. And the eye test is bland - he is not a player to be feared right now.

What makes you think Nemec is overvalued? I'm guessing the team he plays on. Perreault is looking real good, but who do you think is more valued between him and Nemec? I'd say worse case for Nemec is even.

Nemec has a lot of stock value right now. Not too sure if he’s a top four guy on Jersey, who are definitely Cup contenders, and he’s not a bottom pairing PK kind of guy.

Just a bit of reality....

Whatever the Devil fans (or any fan of any team) think he's worth will get thrown out a 100 story window the moment Nemec is unhappy and wants to be traded.

The next reality...is he improving in the AHL? Don't assume he is. I'm not saying he isn't, but progression is never a straight line so don't assume he is...or he's not.

I mean, I suppose that depends on what you think his value is without asking for a trade?

I feel like most people are valuing him around what Jiricek got right now, and that's certainly a reasonable take. I have no idea why that would change given that Jiricek was unhappy and publicly appeared to want out. If we are saying that wanting out and requesting a trade suppresses value, Jiricek's was also coming from a suppressed place. You wouldn't lower Nemec's value further in comparison.

McGroarty wanted out of Winnipeg's system, and they got a comparable prospect in return.

I do agree that in some instances wanting out could certainly lower the value, but demand is still what ultimately drives the price.

Maybe, maybe not. That might be want you want as a fan- i mean, who doesn't want an overpay?
However, like with jiricek, your GM might decide to move on from him if he has decided that he isn't developing as hoped, and doesn't want a bad attitude around an organization that is trending in a positive direction. Things are fluid in terms of value, and if a GM decides that someone is no longer a need, or worth the trouble, he will move him somewhere, for similar value asset(s).
