Speculation: Nemec not happy with the Devils?

As the season rolls on the cap space needed is reduced. Cap space accumulated. Miller is around 4 mil, Boeser around 3, Pettersson around 5.5 mil and Demko under 2.5 mil.

In two weeks those numbers go down even more and cap space accumulated goes up.
There are many teams right now that have very close to the needed space.

For my preference any trade of either Pettersson or Miller should be to back east or definitely not within the division. Utah supposedly might be interested but then just about every team could be too.

A whole sale dumping of a core is not new and doesn't mean doom and gloom or a Buffalo/Arizona type forever rebuild. Like those teams that have success there are fewer that don't.

People are freaking out on a comment where a player said he's not asking for a trade.

While I wouldn't rule out a trade of Nemec at some point, I think it's probably about 5-6 months too early in the discourse given that they haven't even had contract discussions with Kovacevic, and the mostly likely situation here is that Kovacevic walks as a free agent and Nemec steps into the his spot next year.

I’m pretty sure they will want a much better prospect or current nhl player than Savoie as the main piece in this trade. His value is a good/decent 3c…as per past precedent as he has not significantly increased his value since that trade ( decent AHL numbers in a d+ 3 season is not as valuable as you think…)

As soon as a good prospect states he is not happy with the team, the team MUST do better and calm the guy and all will be well again. BUT if the team make NO effort to calm the waters the player will feel disrespected and burn the bridge. After all the good prospect he will play for someone else for sure. The second truth is the prospect value will drop 20% for demanding a trade ( but thats speaks about value NOT TALENT. The team will not get equal value in any trade no matter what fans think. sugar coat the trade all you want to make you feel good you wont get 100% to 100% trade. I don’t think he’s necessarily wrong in that the devils were probably hoping Nemec would be ready now for their contender window. Trading him for down the roads picks or prospects is like the opposite of the Meier trade.
