Speculation: Nemec not happy with the Devils?

I know I definitely wouldn't mind taking a guess on him in Montreal, especially since he's friend with Slafkovsky and Mesar, and because we do have needs at RD.

Won't propose anything, cause it's a worthless exercise, but, I wonder if Devils administration will let the situation fester like Columbus did with Jiricek, probably not, but Nemec sure shouldn't act entitled either.

That's not the way you answer that question. It's a really crappy, selfish response that puts the GM and coaching staff on the spot. This, after reports of him pouting after being sent down. You don't see this from Casey.

He has nobody to blame but himself for being in the AHL. He was hot ****ing garbage on the devils this year.

This is an absolutely unacceptable level of entitlement. I think the Devils should actively be shopping him, don't need this sort of attitude in the organization.

Huge mistake taking him over Cooley.
Players are always way more genuine with media in their native country. Articles like this are released at least once a year, if not more, in Sweden, Finland, etc. and blown out of proportion in NA.

This should be a lesson for Nemec that he has to be careful to watch what he says because in this day and age, it quickly makes its way to NA media and gets blown out of proportion.

I don’t think much of it. All the answers is something you’d expect a player will answer if they’re speaking honestly.

Genuinely, even if he was lighting it up in the AHL, I don’t think you can justify playing him over any of the 3RD right now. He’s just the unfortunate victim of a numbers game right now. It’s better he plays in the AHL then sit in the press box in the NHL.

Relax. Like seriously.

Nemec is putting the pressure on the Devils to give him a chance. The days of telling young people to shut up and be patient are over. Now, quotes like Nemec’ are seen as competitive.

The truth is that Kovacevic has outperformed expectations and the Devils (correctly) thought that it’s better to send Nemec down to get playing time. One injury to a RHD and he’s back up. He is not worse than MacDermid and is also waiver-exempt.

The long-term situation is that the Devils have rewarded LHughes by cancelling out his first year on an ELC and probably reward him with a paycheck immediately. While Nemec most likely needs to get bridges (depends on if they keep Hamilton or not). So he could get kinda pissed at that but the Devils can also play hardball and say look, if you become really good we will pay you, just right now we’re up against the cap.

He’s in the minors because he got hurt at the WC and came back and played terribly, all while Kovacevic, who was supposed to be the 7D, blew the doors off. He needs to be patient.

This offseason likely will see moves one way or the other that opens a spot for him. Either they don’t re-sign Kovacevic or they look to move Hamilton.

It really comes down to whether he's cool with finishing the season in Utica or if that is a problem for him as well. If it's an issue, I think this is a weird time for it to come out with the season half over.

If he's fine with playing out this year (which I am assuming is the case based on him saying its too soon), then I think this gets resolved one way or the other this summer with minimal issues. One of those three guys is gone for sure.

Maybe that's why he wants out?

This is not how you do this. Be a professional, don't air it out in public. Why on earth would the devils take out Kovacevic for Nemec? It's nonsense.

No, it's seen as selfish. The team is trying to win a cup,

Casey is better and, by all reports, has a much better attitude

Yes. Europeans are more blunt generally. The whole North American “media speak” is the real oddity if you think about it, but one European players just need to adapt to and realize their comments to European reporters as well will be translated and turned into a whole thing. German football players will routinely state in interviews when their teammate played poorly, very matter of fact, not in a drama stirring way. It’s just the culture. Things nobody bats an eye to that would be a whole ordeal if it occurred in a league over here.

Not Boeser. If you told me there was some weird package that went through between these two teams involving JT Miller and Nemec, I could buy it, tbh. Wouldn't be happy about it lol, but maybe there is a path where that makes sense
Zero shot they're trading Nemec for Miller. I don't even know how they'd fit his contract on the books let alone giving up Nemec for him.

He has a point. I know devs fans believe hes still bound to be a stud but it is really odd that he couldnt beat out a near league minimum dman for bottom pair minutes and that the devs felt obligated to sign vets in his place to block him.

I dont think his value is anywhere near where devils fans believe it is. Value is probably in the Kakko ballpark which if borgen is flipped for a 2nd is roughly a 2nd, 3rd and 6th

A lot of word salad for such an idiotic post.

I think Nemec’s comment is more fair than what Gauthier pulled. Don’t see much wrong with what he said. The org made moves to box him out of a role

Frankly that’s just not the case.

They traded a 4th round pick for a depth defenseman in Kovacevic to be 7th D. It just so happened he emerged out of nowhere to be one of the best defensive defenseman in the NHL.

With Hamilton and Pesce, there’s nowhere else for Nemec to play on the right side.

To me, the difference is that Jiricek has a few more warts than Nemec today. I think Nemec should be full time in the NHL today and is a victim of a beauty of a D squad in NJ. The argument for Jiricek back to AHL is a decent argument. Nemec could be top 4 on several NHL clubs. For instance, my Oilers have a spot ready for him but he won't sniff the PP.

NJ would be nuts to trade him though.

Also, I don't think he said a single controversial thing. His point is correct.

Not sure why Jiricek trade wouldn't be a significantly more fitting comparison

This interview has been blown out of proportion.

Interviewer asked Nemec if he would request a trade like Jiricek did and he answered the question.

The idea of this season was for Nemec to be the 3RD with Kovacevic as the extra. Nemec was banged up to start with an injury he sustained in Olympic qualifiers and had a rough start to the year. Kovacevic came out of nowhere to be borderline elite defensively and with Pesce and Hamilton on RD, there’s no room for Nemec at the NHL level.

Devils defense has also been surprisingly healthy since Luke and Pesce returned which means Nemec hasn’t had a chance to play at the NHL level. There’s a really solid chance injuries strike at some point and Nemec will be needed to step in and give the Devils good minutes.

Next year the Devils will either move Hamilton and resign Kovacevic or let Kovacevic walk and Nemec will slide in as 3RD next to Dillon.
This is called, Context. Thank you
