Just read that Pionk said the Jets should be embarrassed about not making the playoffs with the talent the Jets have and he's embarrassed by his own play this season. Good to hear and i hope all our veterans feel the same.
Very refreshing comments from Pionk considering all of the entitled BS responses and excuses we have heard from the "leadership group" over the past year.Just read that Pionk said the Jets should be embarrassed about not making the playoffs with the talent the Jets have and he's embarrassed by his own play this season. Ya i would have liked to hear this from our captain and Scheifele but i'm glad Pionk said it and it looks like he really cares about the team and his own play.Lol, people saying he should be. He just said he was, what more do you want? At least he owns it, unlike numbers 26 and 55.
To defend Pionk here a bit: watch how Pionk pivots off his right ankle. He can't turn.
He's played all year with an undisclosed injury to his right ankle/leg/foot I guarantee it.
Other than him being more aggressive physically in his contract year (which was not sustainable given his lack of size/strength), I don't think his play is that different. I never saw the hype that many here did and thought that contract was brutal from the moment it was signed. He's a smaller less-skilled version of Myers, with similar defensive brainfarts and the same tendency to hold on to the puck too long in transition instead of making a simple pass. I'd be happy if he proved me wrong next year though. His number 1 job next year is to try to become the player he was before he got paid, another season from him like this years performance and the NYR fans might of been right about him and the Jets should move on from him. Good for him for actually saying what many of us have seem from him and the club this year.
Agreed. His game in 19-20 was a bit overrated imo. He got a shit ton of pp points, which is nice ofc, but I don't think his presence made the pp better as a whole. , IIRC he was one of the most pp reliant scorers for dmen that year, and still struggled defensively.Other than him being more aggressive physically in his contract year (which was not sustainable given his lack of size/strength), I don't think his play is that different. I'm glad to hear he's embarrassed by the year they had though. I wish the "leaders" of the team felt the same way.
People around here are so fixated on getting rid of so many players because it’ll be addition by subtraction the Jets would be at best contending for the Calder cup in the AHL next season.trade him!
the moose are already contending.............and depending what is given in return, they may be betterPeople around here are so fixated on getting rid of so many players because it’ll be addition by subtraction the Jets would be at best contending for the Calder cup in the AHL next season.
