Pretty much. We don't have the juiciest of bluechippers, but we're in a good position to make quantity-for-quality offers...while having a very solid team to watch in the meantime that's also very young (just 4 players over 24yo).

I think it's a two-step process and Cleveland offering that 3rd unprotected FRP just priced us out of making Mitchell the first step. But someone like Lavine could be available this summer for a price that wouldn't tie our hands if a Zion / Booker / Tatum / Luka later became available.

And with someone like Lavine filling Fournier + Rose/Robinson's salary slots, we would be a solid playoff team that can win a series. 2nd-round-ceiling until we landed that tier 1 superstar, but we could set ourselves up similarly to the pre-Kawhi Raptors.

Bit harsh singling Fournier out on a night when Randle was the only Knick to play well...though Obi had a good burst in the first half.

On the plus side, Thibs tried out Obi as a Jumbo-3 to get him on the court with Julius, which I've been wondering about for the past couple of games. If the two of them continue to shoot well, why not?

Da Big Apple
Article in Yardbarker advises Warriors sending former #2OA James Wiseman down to farm affiliate for at least full 10 days b'c he needs lots of reps to work out rust.
SF is in luxury cap situation and needs salary $$$ recovery as much as possible b'c Steph, etc gonna get paid.

This = opportunity for NY to get him CHEAP.
Or at least, super cheap down, and conditional future comp IF he produces.

DO IT Knick braintrust, DO IT

DO IT

THIS is a crazy good buy low high upside possibility, and he could be C for us.

Very good after Sunday. Julius putting them on his back was nice to see.

Got lucky no Jokic, but whatever, take the win and get the hell out of there.

Props to Thibs for benching the overpaid vets, good win again tonight.

The switch to the 9-man rotation and factoring in Grimes/McBride has been a godsend for the team defense. Thibs also switched to a bit more balanced player deployment, so guys aren't getting 40min/night now.

It's still early, but these early changes have made them so much more enjoyable to watch.

Tough game, back to back, too many turnovers, off Brunson night, were still right there.

Hopefully Mitch and Grimes are okay, beat the Bulls Friday.

Missed the raptors game, but this has been a fun winning streak that reminded me a little of that 2021 run. With Grimes & McBride helping us re-establish that defensive identity on the perimeter, our shooting coming around, and our "big 3" leading the way.

Would be really interesting if our FO does make a move for Anunoby. If we had OG starting, we could bring Grimes off the bench with Deuce & IQ to really terrorize teams on the perimeter...which should also help us take advantage of Obi in transition...

Brunson | McBride
Barrett | Quickley
Anunoby | Grimes
Randle | Toppin
Robinson | Hartenstein/Sims

Would need to make sure we kept enough of our futures to upgrade Randle / Barrett / Brunson to a title caliber #1 if someone like Booker / Zion / Tatum / Luka ever hit the market...but we'd be pretty much ready to contend if we ever did get that true top tier #1.

We seem to miss them in bunches. Knicks were 11/18 in the last game also.

True, but I suspect that's the case for most teams. Just because a team averages ~80% from the line doesn't mean they hit 4 out of every 5 FTs they take, ya know? Cause I don't feel like our variability from the FT line is much more significant than other teams'. We just take a lot of them, so that variability has more of an impact than a team who doesn't get to the line much.

I thought we had stolen it without Brunson or Barrett, but f***in Luka

Was cool to see how Grimes stepped up to give Julius some help. Though it's his 3&D skills that have him starting, Grimes has more ballhandling & creation ability than he gets credit for.
