I'm still giddy from this run. I wish Julius had never gotten hurt and had been able to play in the postseason the way he was playing in March...when he dropped monster games on MIN, MIA, LAL, & BOS...and that Quickley/Grimes had shown out. But we were the youngest team in round 2 and this was a great learning experience.
I hope our FO learned their lesson from 2021 and won't give away our advantages to over-correct for our weaknesses...it's too easy to see the old knicks trading RJ+ for a grandpa like Klay or PG who in theory would help our spacing, but in practice would cost us our elite rim-pressure without making our shooting reliable enough to carry us before breaking down for good.
Luckily I've started to trust this FO and if they do something more than replacing Obi with a more positionally versatile 3&D guy like Patrick Williams, Cameron Johnson, Dorian Finney Smith, DeAndre Hunter, Royce O'Neale, etc...I'm optimistic that it'll be someone who fits with our core's age range and is great at getting to the rim/line while improving our outside shooting.
Getting another team or two involved to turn RJ, Obi & picks into Jaylen Brown is probably our best case scenario. Though I can see our FO using a similar package with a few less picks to pursue Lavine...and if he came with PW our 9-man rotation would be looking mighty dangerous, with plenty of room for internal growth and the picks to make a KD offer next summer without it gutting the team.
Anyways was a great season and I will laugh so hard if at the end of the season it turns out that we were the only eastern conference team to take Miami to a game 6
