I have to disagree, the turning point of the game was the 4th line shift that woke us up.

We had a great cycle going followed by the fight. Right after that the Kadri line followed it up with a good shift after we had been sleeping all game.

I was yelling at my TV lets get some emotion going, and after that 4th line shift it came.

After that there were many key moments, but at the time that was the shift that seemed to wake us up.

Credit Orr, Mclaren and Mcclement.

I could not agree less.....Kadri hit and the goal was the turning point, as well Kadri was a defensive Beast tonight....

Kadri coughed the puck up, fell down, and had a fairly pedestrian game even by his standards prior to the hit/assist. He should have changed well before going in on the forecheck because he was gassed, drilled Ceci from behind and made a nice play for the goal. His empty netter was fairly selfish, taking a stab at the empty net from the far end of the ice and risking an icing call. Other than these two plays which by their very nature were selfish, Kadri looked like poo. Of course he gets 2 point and can feel like he's contributing. Smoke and mirrors gentlemen, nothing beast like about his performance tonight. He was merely lucky that his selfish play paid off tonight.

What an awful assessment of his play. :shakehead I'm guessing you didn't actually catch the game?

i love it. About time we have a scoring pest. Screw the other teams perception of Kadri/us.

This
Bruins have Marchand and other cheapshotters but kadri gets so much hate because he plays for the leafs (just like subban for the habs)

Could you imagine if Burke took Cowen and Kadri slipped to the Sens?

We would be a cursed franchise if that happened.

We get two top 7 picks and end up with Schenn and Cowen :help:

I just hate the word "defensive defenseman" now. I like the word "smart defenseman" instead.

Lmao the fight that lasted 4 seconds? How could anyone get pumped up after that? The fourth line is useless, they provide nothing if we have both McClaren and Orr on it.

Not every team is as stupid as the sens, what if they don't dress any fighters? There's no point for our 4th line and the team gets tired because they have to play more minutes as a consequence.

I think Kadri has found his niche in the NHL, this is an excellent #2C that can supply secondary scoring, while playing with an edge, be an agitating Center that can score 65 points a year. If he can tighten up his defensive play, improve his face-offs, and improve his strength especially down low, he will be a valuable piece to this team. I don't see him being a #1 franchise C though, there are so few players in the ilk of Tavares, Getzlaf, Toews variety.

His best slot is where he is playing right now, providing offence against second pairing D men, it's when he faces top defensive pairings he struggles.

So the question is what does he want in terms of a long term salary. 4.5M per to stay a Leaf? If he accepts this, we can keep him. He should slot just behind Bozak and JVR or just about there in terms of value to the team. But is is unlikely he will accept this. So we will see where it goes in 2 summers.

How is he a dirty player? Outside of this hit which is clearly questionable, all of his other hits have been textbook.

Exactly. Kadri's hit last night was questionable, I'll admit. But no harm came from it, and he doesn't have much of a history of being dirty. The hit on Backstrom earlier this year is the only other example I can think of.

As I recall, Gordie Howe made a helluva career with his "elbows up".

Kadri is effective because he has sick skills and rides that line between passionate & dirty.

It's called GOOD OLD FASHIONED HOCKEY.

Let's get real. The turning point was the Bozak goal. So clutch.
The Kadri play was pretty instrumental though i think.

Turning point was Gunnarsson keeping the puck in, something Gardiner failed to do on the 2nd. Ottawa game. If he came up short on that play there is no first goal at that point.

;)

I totally agree, the 4th line has been useless and when Bolland, Holland and Clarkson return I would like to see a better grind out line there. Orr and McClaren are pretty much done in the NHL. I would rather see Bodie and Ashton on with McClement, at least they can skate, control the puck down low and create scoring chances with some grittiness. There is no need for the two pylons (Orr, McClaren) to be out there they do nothing, seriously absolutely nothing

This is true. The top 7 in the 2009 draft is looking great. Every pick's looking like a star, or close to one (except for Brayden)

Marchand.....Krecji....Chara....all cheapshot artists that get respect. Kadri's hit last night was borderline, but he is at his best when he plays on the edge. The thing that I like about it, he didn't turtle when he got jumped by 2 Seneturds after the hit.

He just needs to stay away from dumb hits like the 1 on Backstrom.

Before this 4th line shift the team was asleep, maybe Kadri got his jump from this shift, because after that the team was more engaged. No one can tell me that watched last night's game, this didn't wake up the boys. The emotion to this point in the game was nil in the game. Clearly we play better when we are engaged.

Lupul-Kadri-Kulemin

That is a much more intelligent line than the old one Kadri had.

Lupul's goal came after Kulemin pinched the guy off trying to get the puck clear and forced a bad pass to Ceci which gave Kadri the opening and resulting pass to Lupul.

I really hope Nonis keeps Kulemin around for a couple more seasons. Such a great fit for Lupul and Kadri

Wouldn't want Kadri to make Bozak irrelevant eh
