This what the majority of the fan base has been saying for two years. Beal is no where near worth that contract. At best he’s the second option on a championship team and moving forward he’s probably more suited to being the third option. To make him the highest paid player in the league is frankly laughable.

The only way committing to Beal doesn’t lock them into mediocrity for the next half decade is if they somehow get a Steph Curry, Kawhi Leonard, or Nikola Jokic-type talent in the middle of the draft otherwise they’ll be good enough not to be a top five drafting team and bad enough not to contend for anything more than the play-in / first round which is pretty much the worst place to be. Or maybe the heavens shine down on them and Kyle Kuzma continues his ascension and becomes a legitimate franchise player. But yeah, yikes.
Yup agree with this all….

Held onto their nuts too long. For all the good Tommy has done (and he’s worked some miracles)…..this is a blunder (and it might be on ownership, or both).

MASN is an independent RSN, which means the company only operates a single cable channel. Cord-cutting has made life difficult for all RSNs but perhaps even tougher for MASN, which does not have the scale to help it negotiate with cable distributors as do Comcast or Bally’s, which own multiple sports networks.

According to Kagan, the media research division of S&P Global Market Intelligence, MASN’s subscriptions have fallen from 5.6 million in 2018 to 3.6 million this year. And anyone who has watched MASN in recent years has noticed the network has responded by cutting costs; there is no analyst on pregame and postgame shows for the Nationals, and the set beyond center field that hosted that coverage was dismantled.

Yikes.

Money talks for some. Not for Tiger, apparently.

Meanwhile, Phil's financial motives seem clearer regarding his complaints about Cali taxes and then later the LIV.

PGA tour hitting kind of a skid here.

They need to let these guys play where they want IMO. There are plenty of tournaments and players to go around…..

at what point do they realize they've made a deal with the devil?

The PGA tour has no choice but to let this play out and possibly flame out.

Honestly…..I think this is going to expand and the PGA Tour will have to allow this all…. Otherwise…..players resign, play the majors and take advantage of sponsors exemptions…

The LIV people will get it eventually with regards to the other stuff. Right now they’re obviously hyper-sensitive to potential questions about ”blood money”……

I don’t think it’s going away.

It’s soooooooo weird to see “Mad Dog” Russo on TV on ESPN……..sometimes he’s good, and sometimes……dude is living in the past……I don’t see him lasting on ESPN TV unless he gets a LOT better.

He's the only reason to watch first take.

Wow….bring on the injunctions!

They said they were gonna.

Just watching to see how this all plays out. IMO the LIV jumpers have no case against the PGA Tour as a private business with exclusive membership that doesn't discriminate illegally.

If you want to work for IBM they can take away your swipe card if you moonlight at HP, right? This seems no different.

Yeah and I have to believe a condition of membership is that to play outside events you have to request and receive approval to do that. They didn’t request it for no reason. So if you don’t like the conditions of membership fine, then you can choose not to be a member but if you want to be a member you have to abide by the conditions.
