I don't really have a specific direction here, just interested in what types of trade targets Nashville could draw with their three first round picks.

Currently looking at a Top 5 pick, (Their own) a wild card bubble pick (Tampa, currently #20) and contender. (Vegas, currently 28th)

If you packaged two, or even three of them, what could you draw? Obviously, Nashville's own pick heavily swings the value.

I'd see how far we can move up with Tampa's pick using Vegas's 1st and our two 2nds (currently 36th and 52nd).

Can we get into the top 10 with 20, 30, 36 and 52?

Who are some veteran centers or RD who might be available at the TDL? I can see the Preds being buyers on the rental market with those picks maybe.

But in a weak draft, any building teams who are within range of drafting a good player won't trade down, and it's not really worthwhile for the Preds to trade up just a few spots in the middle or lower part of a weak draft like this... better for the Preds to just make the selections and hope they get lucky with one.

I think it will be tough to move up this year given the big perceived drop in quality after ~15-17oa ...

If they're not making the picks, I think you're looking at maybe an Alex Newhook type deal as a best case scenario?

I hope not. I'd rather use the picks then get yet another 30 point player.

High-level...Nashville needs to get younger. Already has a top-10 prospect pool along with the three 1st's to go with a number of good vets. The coach and GM need to go, but that's for another thread. So, either a package to move up or good prospects/young players.

Rasmus Andersson, if Calgary falls off?

IMO those two picks in the 20s are really closer to 2nd round pick value in a better draft.

Probably would be tough to find a team willing to trade down that far. Usually the teams picking that high also were sellers at the deadline and will have some extra 2nds as it is. We'll see if things change but the depth of this draft doesn't seem be as strong as other years, so there might not be teams looking for quantity. But a team could get creative to trade one asset into a few and then trade one of those into immediate help.

To this day I still think it was a questionable trade, but Jay Feaster has his name on the Cup so he gets the last laugh. At the 2002 Draft, he traded #4 for Ruslan Fedotenko and a couple 2nd rounders. Then he traded one of those picks for Brad Lukowich.

In 2022, Mike Grier was kinda starting from scratch with the Sharks prospect pool and they decided to trade #11 for #27, #34, and #45.

Maybe a case for the Islanders/Penguins to trade down to gain more picks. But we'll see if what their haul is if they're sellers at the deadline.
