Are you for real? That's an awesome return. Better than I expected.Nyquist (50% retained) to Minnesota for our original 2026 second round pick.

We PAID to get a pick that might become a roster player in 2030-31.Are you for real? That's an awesome return. Better than I expected.
...I'm going to go ahead and assume you're just brand new to this whole "selling at the deadline" thing. We PAID to get a pick that might become a roster player in 2030-31.
A 2nd next year with no retention, ok. A pick this year if retaining ... extending the failure period is never a good idea. This is a team that even when picking defensemen when at their peak of selecting ... took Klein before Weber.
Willy assured us we'll be a contender next year.We PAID to get a pick that might become a roster player in 2030-31.

But we did pick both of them.We PAID to get a pick that might become a roster player in 2030-31.

It's not healthy to spend that much time in front of a mirror, hon.I enjoy watching people be wrong. Carry on.
If Josi's injury is in fact another concussion, his return next season or not is then a question. Even if he is back, how long he can stay healthy is a question for the rest of his contract based on his history. Skjei, Lauzon, Schenn, Barron, MDG, maybe rookies Molendyk and/or Gibson needing to jump right in and excel .... high risk blueline.Willy assured us we'll be a contender next year.
He might be inhaling too much pixie dust, but you never know.
Your assumptions make Bruno's system look stellar. It's not healthy to spend that much time in front of a mirror, hon.

We have tons of cap room and his contract is up at the end of the year. What difference is it that there’s retention? Are you paying for it? Who cares about the money if it doesn’t affect the cap?We PAID to get a pick that might become a roster player in 2030-31.

You're nitpicking about current roster construction concerns for a deadline sales deal. That's why you're getting laughed at. The whole point of selling at the deadline is minmaxing futures, because that's what becomes available from playoff teams at the deadline (we've been one of those teams enough times that this is a phenomenon we should be familiar with). If Josi's injury is in fact another concussion, his return next season or not is then a question. We lack a playmaker to go with Marchessault, Stamkos, Forsberg, and players to be named later. The odds of RoR catching lightning in a bottle yet again are slim. A 2026 second rounder addresses 2030 and beyond (if ever), nothing in the next five years.
2nds this year are depressed in value due to extreme concerns about the strength of this draft. Under the circumstances 2026 is arguably preferable.A second this season, no retention good deal. Trading to get a 2026 second rounder back, using the last retention slot, GMs know they can get anything from Trotz.
The 2031 roster is rounding out.
