What's the ask for Lauzon, and what would your interest level be in K'Andre Miller or Mika Zibenejad?

Realistically, they'll probably only move Nyquist, Schenn, Sissons, McCarron, and maybe O'Reilly or Novak. Center depth is so thin as the moment, so it would be hard to move both of them. No one under 23 should be on the table unless it's part of a package for a better C prospect.

Josi, Forsberg, Saros and Stamkos are probably not going anywhere. We have 3 first rounders, with one of them probably a top 5 this coming summer so I dont see any real reason to sell off the best pieces.

I'd be happy to swap Marchessault for a higher cap cap with less term or younger player (thinking Zibanejad type, maybe him and FF9 will click at 4 nations and he'd be willing to waive? Would make moving Novak or O'Reilly easier)

Don't really want to move our best RHD for an underperforming player who is on an expiring
I came for a fire sale and all I got is a roasted pineapple.

Edit: Seriously who's available?

I would have interest in Carrier and Sissons

Leafs would have considerable interest in both Josi and Forsberg.. Most likely Forsberg to be honest they badly need offensive help.

I would make Cowan and our 2026 first available as part of that package. Let Tavares either walk or have him sign a dirt cheap deal, also gives them leverage with Marner.

ROR back to Toronto and Tavares can move down to #3C where it's more suitable for him at this stage of his career.

Definitely not moving the best players our franchise has ever had in a package centered on a weak winger prospect and a late 1st rounder

We say firesale but i doubt trotz really moves much:

Expiring contracts:
Nyquist
Del Gaizo

Season and a half left:
Lauzon
Schenn
Sissons
Smith
McCarron
Jankowski

Those would be the ones id expect to get moved.

Del Gaizo, Smith, McCarron, and Jankowski are all mid to late round returns.

Lauzon id like to get a late 1st or a 2nd + decent prospect or just a recent late round 1st prospect. Paid a 2nd for him years ago, GMs really overvalue hits, he is ripe to get an overpayment for.

Nyquist id be happy with a 2nd or so. Can retain to maximize trade value.

sissons and schenn are hard for me to gauge value. We do need to keep some vet leadership with high work ethic. It also isnt like we have a ton of RHD since our GM waived Fabbro. Id personally want a trade to be worth our while plus return a older vet to fill the leadership gap.

The new guys may be unhappy since they came to be on a good team and ended up on this turnip.
March
Stamkos
Skjei

Those are all NMC protected and likely require a like for like contract swap: Stamkos for Zib, Skjei for Nurse, etc.

I'm just going to assume you don't know who he is and move on. He's 5 foot 11 185 pounds that is basically average size. This is from last season fyi

Didn't realize he was 2023 - underperforming in his D+2 is even worse. I've seen him play and he's certainly not 5'11

The fact he's your "best prospect" is more of a testament to the quality of Toronto's pool and not his value as a winger

nyquist with retention would be interesting, could probably do a trade without retention if nashville can take on anton forsberg in return

i also like carrier but the cost is probably too high

Can Nashville retain on another contract?

sure let's ignore the fact he was literally the OHLs best player start to finish in his draft +1 and isn't any good because you've seen him play

If this isn't immediate, NYR can take on retention for any UFA as a 3rd team involved with their 20ish million in deadline space. They have 7million and counting right now. I think Nashville is using 2 out of their 3 retained spots, so they might want to use that for a bigger deal if they can make one rather than a UFA.
